Glee: The Next Generation Episode 10: "Battle For Sectionals"Edit

So here’s what you missed on Glee: The Next Generation

Evan has been trying hard to win Breezy over, but it turns out her parents are divorced and it’s made her afraid to love. Yikes. New Directions has been preparing for Sectionals really hard. Hallie had to leave her old school because she was bullied by Chastity Vega, uber mean girl. Chastity showed up at Invitationals and blabbed Hallie’s secret to India, who told the whole school. Now, New Directions has to face Chastity’s Glee Club at Sectionals as well as the Warblers. India spent the entire last episode being nice. Who would have thought it? James is being stalked by Archie, who is in Vocal Adrenaline. Now he swears to destroy Jaxon himself, and every time James is near Archie, he cries.

And that’s what you missed on Glee!

Evan hurried into the choir room, a crumpled piece of paper clutched tightly in his hand. He turned to face Breezy.

“Thanks for meeting me here,” he said, out of breath.

“What is this all about, Evan?”

Evan smiled. “I know you’re apprehensive about giving me a chance. So, this is a lat minute, all-or-nothing number. The rest of the club and I have prepared it for you and hopefully, you will understand where I’m coming from.”

Breezy smiled. “Okay. Guess I can’t say no to that.”

“Come on in, guys,” Evan said. “Hope you don’t mind, but they’re gonna help me out. The band is already gone since we have Sectionals today and they’re not needed.”

Breezy laughed. “You are really something.”

Jaxon walked in, strumming on his electric guitar. Kevin took a seat at the drum set and joined in. India walked in and took a seat at the keyboard, playing along. The rest of Glee Club walked in, clapping in rhythm. Breezy covered her mouth, unable to believe what was happening.

Evan stood right in front of Breezy, looking directly at her.

“We all, we all, we all, we all, we all,” Evan sang. “We all, we all, we all, we all, we all. I can pretend that I’m not lonely but I’ll be constantly fooling myself. I can pretend that it don’t matter but I’ll be sitting here lying to myself. Some say love ain’t worth the buck but I’ll give every dime I have left to have what I’ve only been dreaming about. Everybody wants something, better want something. What are you living for? Everybody needs something, fighting for something. I know what you’re fighting for cause we all--”

“We all want someone there to hold,” New Directions sang.

“We just want somebody,” Evan sang.

“We all wanna be somebody’s one and only,” New Directions sang. “We all wanna be warm when it’s cold.”

“Yeah,” Evan sang.

“Nobody wants to be left scared and lonely,” New Directions sang.

“We all, we all, we all, we all, we all,” Evan and New Directions sang.

“We all want the same thing," Evan sang.

“We all, we all, we all, we all, we all.”

“We all want the same thing.

“We all, we all, we all, we all, we all.”

“We all want the same thing,” Evan sang. “Everybody wants something, gotta want something. Yeah, yeah, we all want love. I’m able to close my eyes, yet my heart’s not so blind. I feel so entitled of owes me, I want what’s mine. And some say love ain’t worth the buck but I’ll give them the last dime to have what I’ve only been dreaming about. Everybody want something, better want something. What are you living for? Everybody needs something, fighting for something. I know what you’re fighting for cause we all--”

“We all want someone there to hold,” New Directions sang.

“We just want somebody,” Evan sang.

“We all wanna be somebody’s one and only,”New Directions sang.

“We all want the same thing,” Evan sang. “Everybody wants something, gotta want something. Yeah, yeah, we all want love.”

Breezy wiped a tear from her cheek and smiled warmly. “So, all-or-nothing?”

Evan nodded, a lump forming in his throat.

“Then consider it all,” Breezy said as she stood up from her chair and threw her arms around Evan.

Will leaned through the doorway and cleared his throat. “Sorry to break up this moment, but it’s time to leave, guys. Sectionals, here we come!”

The choir room erupted with cheers and New Directions filed out the door.

Will, Emma, Beiste, Kurt, and Blaine led the line as they made their way to their seats.

“I’m so nervous,” Will said.

“Don’t be,” Emma reassured.

“It feels like old times,” Kurt said. “My stomach is in knots.”

Blaine patted Kurt on the shoulder. “I can’t wait to see the new Warblers. I still have my old jacket, you know. I tried it on last night. Fits like a glove.”

Kurt rolled his eyes. “Don’t tell me. You danced around your room in it.”

“What makes you think I did that?” Blaine asked, raising an eyebrow.

“You have this weird- I wouldn’t call it an obsession- a weird thing about dancing around your room. Sometimes I think you don’t even know you are doing it.”

“I do?”

Emma nodded. “Kurt and Rachel wanted to stage an intervention for you.”

“Here’s our seats, guys,” Will said as he motioned toward a row.

“I do?” Blaine asked again, this time with emphasis.

Beiste looked at Blaine. “For Pete’s sake, even I thought you had a problem.”

Everyone squeezed into the row and took their seats as the feedback from the intercom filled the theater.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the announcer said. “Please give it up for our celebrity emcee, local legend and Tony award winning Broadway star, April Rhodes!”

The audience burst into applause.

Archie Carmichael entered the theater, flanked by his best friend and right hand man, Aaron Broadbent. Aaron was a lot like Archie, but much meaner.

Archie put his hands in the pocket of his leather jacket. He looked around for a couple of free seats and found some near the front row.

“Let’s go,” Archie ordered.

Aaron nodded and followed. “So, what are we doing here?”

“We’re here to support James and check out the potential competition, just as Jesse asked us to do.”

“Seems like a waste of time,” Aaron said.

“Shut up,” Archie said as he took his seat.

The curtain rose and April Rhodes walked center stage as the audience applauded.

“Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. I assure you I’m sober tonight,” April said with a smile.

The audience laughed.

“I am so happy to be your celebrity emcee for the 2015 Sectionals Competition. Please, welcome our celebrity judges tonight. Local anchorman, Rod Remington. Former stripper and Carmelite nun, Sister Mary Constance. And last but not least, Lima mayor, Patrick Lundberg!”

All three stood up and bowed as the audience applauded.

"Now, put your hands together for our first competitors, from The Holy Name of the Mother Academy, The Holy Rollers!” April announced.

Chastity Vega and the all-female Holy Rollers walked onstage, dressed in white baby dolls dresses with red belts. Chastity walked center stage. She looked out into the audience at Hallie, shooting her a menacing glare.

“All Around Me” by Flyleaf began to play as the lights went down. Chastity bowed her head and stood motionlessly.

“My hands are searching for you,” Chastity sang as she reached out toward the audience. “My arms are outstretched for you. I feel you on my fingertips. My tongue dances behind my lips for you.”

Chastity walked toward the audience, her arm outstretched. When she reached the edge of the stage, she closed her fist and pulled in her arm in towards her.

“This fire rising through my being. Burning, I’m not used to seeing. I’m alive, I’m alive.”

Chastity raised her hand toward the sky, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“I can feel you all around me, thickening the air I’m breathing. Holding on to what I’m feeling, savoring this heart that’s healing.”

“At least it’s dramatic,” Will said.

“I think there is something wrong with that girl,” Beiste said.

Will looked over at Emma, who was drying her eyes with a napkin.

“I rest my case, Will,” Beiste said.

Will sighed. “There’s no way they’re going to win. Even if she is out there, crying a river.”

“It’s so inspirational,” Emma said as she continued to cry.

Will rolled his eyes.

“I’m alive, I’m alive,” Chastity sang as she threw her arms out. “I can feel you all around me, thickening the air I’m breathing. Holding on to what I’m feeling, savoring this heart that’s healing. And so I cry. This light is white and I see you. I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive. I can feel you all around me, thickening the air I’m breathing. Holding on to what I’m feeling, savoring this heart that’s healing. Take my hand, I give it to you. Now you owe me, all I am. You said you would never leave me. I believe you, I believe. I can feel you all around me, thickening the air I’m breathing. Holding on to what I’m feeling, savoring this heart that’s healed.”

Emma jumped out, applauding. “Bravo! Bravo!”

Will tugged at Emma’s dress. “Sit down!”

Kurt watched hopeless as Chastity cried openly. “We’re doomed.”

“No, we’re not. She forced those tears just to try and sway the judges. It won’t work,” Will assured.

“Total stage tears,” Blaine added.

“I’m going to try and find some water,” Will said, getting up from his seat.

“But you’ll miss their group numbers,” Emma said.

“I’ll live,” Will said as he walked down the aisle.

Nicole watched as two Warblers walked toward her. She had no idea what to expect.

“Hi,” the lead one said. “I’m Dillon Cregger.”

Nicole cleared her throat. “Are you talking to me?”

Dillon laughed. “I don’t see anyone else that I might be talking to.”

Dillon offered his hand to Nicole. She took it and shook his hand. “I’m Nicole Martin.”

“This is my friend, Claude. We’re Warblers, but that’s obvious.”

Dillon laughed, his curls bouncing. He reached up and pushed his black framed glasses out of his eyes.

“Um, not trying to be rude, but what do you want?” Nicole asked.

“Dillon has become quite smitten at first sight, Miss Martin,” Claude said in what appeared to be a slight French accent.

Dillon blushed. “I can speak for myself, Claude. I’m quite good at embarrassing myself on my own, which I currently appear to be doing. So, I’m just going to go.”

Nicole laughed. “Actually, I find this all to be quite sweet. Were you trying to ask me out sometime?”

Dillon lowered his head, trying to hide the fact that he was blushing.

“Maybe. But if you are disgusted at the idea…”

“Oh no! Not at all,” Nicole interjected. “Actually, I would love to. I’m just not used to being asked out. Especially by a charming, damper Warbler.”

Dillon smiled. “Great. I’ll give you my number after the show. Right now, I have to get ready to perform. Best of luck tonight.”

Nicole smiled as Dillon and Claude walked away. Rose looked over at Nicole.

“You go, girl!” Rose said. “He’s cute. Well, cute to be such a…dork.”

Nicole glared at Rose.

“I didn’t mean it bad, Nicole. It was the only word I could think of. He’s kind of dorky but he’s cute and sweet. He’s a catch for sure.”

Nicole smiled to herself. “He is.”

By the time Will had returned, April was back onstage, about to introduce the Warblers.

“Alright, ladies and gents, give it up for the Holy Rollers. That was moving, wasn’t it? Now, please make some noise for some attractive young men in spiffy blazers, The Dalton Academy Warblers!”

The Warblers in the background began to scat along with the music as Mama Cass’ “Make Your Own Kind of Music” began to play. Dillon stepped forward.

“Nobody can tell ya,” Dillon sang. “There’s only one song worth singing. They may try and sell ya ‘cause it hangs them up to see someone like you."

“But you gotta make your own kind of music,”The Warblers sang. “Sing your own special song. Make your own kind of music. Even if no one else sings along.”

Blaine looked impressed. “Kid has some pipes.”

“You’re going to be knowing,” Claude sang. "The loneliest kind of lonely. It may be rough going just to do your thing, the hardest thing to do.”

“But you gotta make your own kind of music,” The Warblers sang. “Sing your own special song. Make your own kind of music. Even if no one else sings along.”

“So if you cannot take my hand,” Dillon and Claude sang. “And if you must be going. I will understand.”

“You gotta make your own kind of music,” The Warblers sang. “Sing your own special song. Make your own kind of music. Even if no one else sings along. But you gotta make your own kind of music. Sing your own special song. Make your own kind of music. Even if no one else sings along.”

Dillon and Claude took their bow as the audience stood up and applauded, New Directions included.

“Very good,” Will said.

Beiste put her fingers in her mouth and wolf whistled, before continuing to applaud.

As the Warblers did their next two numbers, New Directions were ushered backstage to get ready to take the stage. The boys were looking damper in their all silver tuxedos and sequined silver dress shoes. The girls looked gorgeous in silver sequined baby doll dresses and silver toeless heels.

Honey paced back and forth. “I wish Rachel could have made it. I understand she’s so busy with NYADA, but it’s not the same without her. Please tell me Declan is out there.”

“He’s out there,” Jaxon said. “He’s sitting with Brittany and Santana, right behind Kurt and Blaine.”

“Thank God,” Honey said, with a sigh of relief.

“You two are getting serious,” Jaxon said.

“We’re not going steady yet if that’s what you think.”

“Hello, everyone,” Chastity said as she stood in the door frame. Jaxon glared at her.

“What are you doing here?” Jaxon asked.

“Well, I was going to say ‘break a leg,’ but I realized that I couldn’t get so lucky,” Chastity quipped.

Hallie stood up and walked over to Chastity. “If that’s all you have to say, why don’t you just get lost?”

Chastity laughed. “How rude and inhospitable of you, Hallie. Actually, I wanted to talk to you as well.”

Hallie crossed her arms. “I have nothing to say to you.”

Chastity smiled a mean grin as she put her hand on Hallie’s shoulder and pushed her back into the corner. Upon seeing Chastity push Hallie, Jaxon started toward her, but Evan grabbed him and shook his head.

“I just wanted to say good luck winning out there, Hallie. I hope the judges can hear you singing over the deafening sound of your stretch marks rubbing against those sequins. If I were you, I’d just sit it out. You’re not that good of a dancer, anyway, and your singing is mediocre.”

Hallie shook her head. “Just leave, Chastity.”

Jaxon looked over and saw Archie standing in the doorway.

“What do you want?” Jaxon asked. “This isn’t a good time.”

“I’m actually here just to wish you guys good luck,” Archie said. “Unlike her, I didn’t plan to start a fight. Today.”

Jaxon nodded. “Thanks, then. But you should get going. We already have our hands full.”

Archie nodded as he turned and walked out the door.

“Leave, Chastity,” Hallie insisted, the tone in her voice getting meaner than she thought possible.

Chastity smiled. “My work here is done anyway. And if by some chance you do manage to haul your worthless carcass out there and New Directions wins, I might just make true on that promise I made you back at your old school. You know, the one where I said if you cross me, I’ll destroy you…worse than you already destroyed yourself.”

Jaxon clenched his fists as he watched Chastity saunter out the door. He turned to James, who had gone white as a ghost.

“James,” Jaxon said, putting his hands on James’ shoulders. “It’s okay. Don’t let him get to you.”

“I…I…I can’t go out there. I’ll break down in mid-song and ruin it for us,” James said, his voice breaking.

“I’m not going either,” Hallie said. “Chastity was right. I’ll mess us up, too.”

“No!” Bella and Jaxon said in unison.

“You guys have to go out there,” Jaxon said. “We need you. Both of you.”

“If you both sit out, we’re disqualified,” Bella added.

“Please,” Jaxon said as he looked James in the eyes. “I will be out there with you. He can’t hurt you. Don’t give him the power to make you cry or doubt yourself.”

James took Jaxon’s hand. “I don’t wanna be alone out there.”

Jaxon smiled. “You won’t. I’ll work you into the duet. I’ll do whatever it takes.”

James nodded. “I’ll do it.”

Bella looked at Hallie. “Hal, you have to be out there with us. I’ll work you in, too. Just please get out there and perform with us.”

Hallie smiled a slight smile. “Okay. But I don’t think I can sing.”

“If you feel like you can’t sing, give me a signal. I’ll step up and take your lines, okay?” Bella asked.

Jaxon, James, Bella, and Hallie stood behind the curtain. They exhaled deeply, screwing up the courage to go out there and do this. It was now or never. This was it.

“Please give it up for some dear friends of mine, including my nephew, Kevin,” April said from in front of the curtain. “New Directions!”

The curtain slid up and the lights fell as a two spotlights hit the stage, one focusing on Jaxon and James and one on Bella and Hallie.

“If I should stay,” Jaxon sang as he took James’ hand and walked center stage. “I would only be in your way. So I'll go, but I know, I'll think of you every step of the way. And I will always love you. I will always love you. You, my darling you. Hmm.”

“Bittersweet memories,” Bella said as she took Hallie’s hand and walked over to join Jaxon and James. “That is all I'm taking with me. So, goodbye. Please, don't cry. We both know I'm not what you, you need.”

“And I will always love you,” Jaxon and Bella sang. “I will always love you.”

“I hope life treats you kind,” Jaxon sang. “And I hope you have all you've dreamed of. And I wish to you, joy and happiness. But above all this, I wish you love.”

Jaxon turned to James and looked at him.

“And I will always love you,” Jaxon and Bella sang. “I will always love you. I will always love you. I will always love you. I will always love you. I, I will always love you.”

Jaxon and Bella soared through the difficult hard notes with ease.

“You, darling, I love you,” Bella sang. “Ooh, I'll always, I'll always love you.”

The audience erupted into cheers, not fazed by the choice of people Jaxon and Bella were singing too. Will smiled proudly. From the side of the stage, Miles watched, worried as he processed the moment that Bella and Hallie had just shared.

“Thanks so much, everyone,” Jaxon said. “We got two more for you and we’re about to get this party started!”

Ke$ha’s “Blow” began to play as the rest of New Directions walked onstage. Jaxon stepped forward.

“Ha ha ha, dance,” James said.

“Back door cracked, we don't need a key,” Jaxon sang. “We get in for free, no V.I.P. sleaze. Drink that Kool-Aid follow my lead. Now you're one of us, you're coming with me.”

“It's time to kill the lights and shut the DJ down,” Hallie sang as Bella

smiled at her.

“This place's about to,” Bella sang. “Tonight we're taking over,” Hallie sang. “No one's getting out.”

“This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh,” New Directions sang. “Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to.”

“Now what,” Evan sang.

“What?” Nicole sang.

“We're taking control,” Evan sang. “We get what we want. We do what you don't. Dirt and glitter cover the floor. We're pretty and sick. We're young and we're bored.”

“It's time to lose your mind and let the crazy out,” Rose sang.

“This place about to,” John sang. “Tonight we're taking names 'cause we don't mess around,” Rose sang.

“This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh,” New Directions sang. “Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This 'place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to.”

“Go, go, go, go insane, go insane,”Jaxon and Hallie sang. “Throw some glitter, make it rain on 'em. Let me see them Hanes, let me, let me see them Hanes. Go insane, go insane. Throw some glitter, make it rain on 'em. Let me see them Hanes, let me, let me see them Hanes.”

“We’re taking over,” Miles sang.

“Get used to it, ok,” Lucas sang.

“Blow-oh-oh-oh,” New Directions sang. “This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to. Blow-oh-oh-oh. This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh.”

As the song ended, New Directions scrambled into the positions for the last song.

Honey, Miles, Nicole, Jaxon, Bella, and Kevin stood in a straight line from the edge of the stage toward the back.

“Been there, done that messed around,” Honey sang. “I'm having fun, don't put me down. I'll never let you sweep me off my feet.”

As Honey ended her line, she struck a pose, putting one hand on her hip and leaning back, before going to join the rest of New Directions that were in the back, not lined up. Declan smiled with pride as Honey took her spot.

“I won't let you in again,” Miles sang. “The messages I tried to send My information's just not going in.”

Miles raised both arms and flexed, then took his spot in the back.

“Burning bridges shore to shore,” Nicole sang. “I break away from something more. I'm not turned on to love until it's cheap.”

Nicole did a little salute before walking to the back. Dillon smiled at her from the audience.

“Been there, done that messed around,” Jaxon sang. “I'm having fun, don't put me down. I'll never let you sweep me off my feet.”

Jaxon dropped and did a push up before jumping back up and taking his place in the back of the stage.

“This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof,” New Directions sang. “This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof.”

“I won't let you turn around,” Bella sang. “And tell me now, I'm much too proud to walk away from something when it's dead.”

Bella did a pirouette and walked to the back.

“Do, do, do your dirty words,” Kevin sang. “Come out to play when you are hurt? There's certain things that should be left unsaid.”

Kevin struck an Adonis pose before he took his place with the group.

“Tick, tick, tick, tick on the watch,” the girls all sang. “And life's too short for me to stop. Oh baby, your time is running out.”

“I won't let you turn around,” the guys all sang. “And tell me now I'm much too proud. All you do is fill me up with doubt.”

“This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof,” New Directions sang. “This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof. This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof. This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof. This time I'll be bulletproof. This time I'll be bulletproof. This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof. This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof. This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof. This time, baby, I'll be bulletproof.”

As the music ended and the audience cheered, it finally felt like New Directions had made it.

After what seemed like an hour of voting, they had finally gathered all of the show choir teams onstage. New Directions held hands with each other, butterflies in their stomachs.

April carefully opened the envelope and pulled out the results. She looked back at the groups and then looked out into the audience.

“Well, guys, it looks like we have quite an upset. The winner of the 2015 Sectionals is--”

April paused for effect.

“--The Holy Rollers!”

“What?!” Evan exclaimed, shocked.

“No way!” Jaxon said.

Chastity glared at Hallie as she stepped forward to take the trophy. Hallie shook her head in disbelief.

“Wait a minute,” Archie said from the audience, walking toward the stage. “The Holy Rollers can’t win as they are in violation of the rules.”

“What are you saying?” Rod Remington asked.

“The rules clearly state that any team in violation of the code of conduct will be disqualified. The Holy Rollers are in clear violation of the anti-bullying clause stated in the rules. Chastity paid a visit to one of the members backstage, harassed her, threatened her, and tried to scare her out of performing so that New Directions would be a member short.”

“Is this true?” Mayor Lundberg asked.

Chastity shook her head. “I did no such thing. I go to a Catholic school. We’re nice people.”

“She’s lying,” Archie said. “I’m from Vocal Adrenaline, New Direction’s long standing rival. Believe me, I want nothing more than to get New Directions out of the competition, but I wanna do it fairly. Chastity was in clear violation of the rules.”

“I was not!” Chastity exclaimed. “That boy is lying!”

Archie pointed to the ceiling. “Security cameras in the green room. They caught everything, Chastity. And though they didn’t catch what you said, they caught you pushing Hallie and getting in her face to intimidate her. You can’t lie your way out.”

Jaxon and James looked at each other speechless. Had Archie really just come to New Direction’s aid?

“Well, ladies and gentleman,” Mayor Lundberg said. “Looks like we have an accusation of the code of conduct being broken. We’ll check the video and if the accusations check out, the Holy Rollers will be disqualified.”

The audience looked at each other, shocked, audible gasps filling the theater. Will looked over at Emma and Beiste, his mouth hanging open.

“What just happened?” Will asked.

“I have no idea. Some kid from Vocal Adrenaline said that The Holy Rollers are in violation of the code of conduct,” Emma answered.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

New Directions waited patiently in the green room. Jaxon paced the floor, anxious.

“I don’t get how we lost,” he said.

“The Holy Rollers were the obvious favorite of the mayor,” Nicole said. “Who honestly wants to vote against him?”

“Cheap pandering and brown-nosing,” Breezy replied.

“Everyone knows that the mayor is a huge religious zealot,” Hallie said. “He fully supports The Holy Name of the Mother Academy. His daughter is a former alumni. The principal even made generous donations to the mayor’s election and re-election campaigns. I knew the moment I saw that the mayor was one of judges, we’d be screwed.”

“But Chastity isn’t gonna get away with what she did to you,” Miles said. “What she tried to do to us. Those cameras had to catch her backing you into that corner.”

“But will it be enough to disqualify her?” Bella asked.

Jaxon shook his head. “I don’t know. Listen guys, I have something that I need to take care of really quick.”

Jaxon left as Bella and Miles put their arms around Hallie.

“Don’t feel bad, Hallie. What she did to you was wrong,” Bella said.

“And a violation of the code of conduct,” Miles added.

Hallie nodded. “I know. I just can’t help but feel like I let you guys down. After what Chastity did, I didn’t do as good as I could have onstage. I mean, I could have brought the house down like Bella and Jaxon did.”

“As good as they were, if it still wasn’t good enough for us to win,” Evan said, “then even if you had been one hundred and ten percent, it wouldn’t have done us any good.”

“You can’t compete against favoritism,” India said. “You were good out there, Hallie. I don’t tell you enough and I don’t give you the credit you deserve, but you put me to shame out there tonight.”

Hallie smiled as she extended her hand to India for a handshake. India didn’t grab it.

“Let’s not call a truce yet, Mama Mia,” India replied. “I just was honest. I don’t wanna get all mushy.”

“So, what?” Lucas asked. “We just wait?”

“That’s all we can do,” James said. “The judges have to review the tape and see if the Holy Rollers get disqualified. If they do, they have to rethink their decision and have another vote.”

“Which will go to the Warblers,” Kevin said.

“No guys,” Rose said. “We have to have faith. Believe in ourselves. Isn’t that what Mr. Schue is always teaching us?”

“Yeah,” Honey said. “We’re supposed to keep the magic alive. Where is the magic in giving up?”

“We’ve got this, guys,” Bella said as she stood up. “We are gonna win this thing because we never stopped trying. We never gave up. Through all the drama and the pain, the anger. The ups and the downs, we stuck together. Remember eighties’ week? Remember that song Mr. Schue had us sing? We built this city, this group, this family on rock n roll. The music brought us all together. Before this, what did we have going for us, huh? I was just the girl who kept busy fixing everyone’s problems to excuse avoiding my own.”

Hallie smiled. “I was the single teenage mother afraid of revealing who I really was.”

“I was the guy who hid behind a pair of sunglasses because I felt ugly,” Miles replied.

“I was the boy who hid his insecurities behind a cocky demeanor that sacred people away,” James said.

“I was they girl living in her big sister’s shadow,” Honey said.

“I was the guy who hated the person I saw in the mirror,” Kevin said,

“I was the boy afraid of coming out because I already felt like an outcast,” Lucas said.

“I was the girl who felt like a big nerd and like I didn’t belong,” Nicole said.

“I was the new girl from far away, alone in a strange place,” India said.

“I was the boy who never stood out or got noticed,” John said.

“I was the girl who was afraid to love or even make friends,” Breezy said.

“I was the guy who didn’t know who I was or where I belonged,” Evan said as he grabbed Breezy’s hand and held it tightly.

“I was the girl who felt like she didn’t matter to anyone,” Rose said.

“And look at us now,” Bella said. “We’ll all changed for the better and we have each other. Every person that we have become, everything we have accomplished on our own and together, we owe to Mr. Schue. He never gave up on his. He loved us and believed in us.”

Will cleared his throat. Everyone looked up, surprised to see him standing in the doorway.

“Bella, that was a beautiful speech,” Will said, tears in his eyes. “I uh, just want you guys to know that win or lose, I am so proud of you. You have all come so far and evolved as performers and as people.”

“We owe it all to you, Mr. Schue,” Hallie said.

“No. I owe it all to you guys,” Will replied. “If I hadn’t had such an amazing group of kids to teach, I would have given up on Glee this year. I almost did. And you guys gave me a reason to keep doing it. I don’t regret my decision of giving Glee Club one last try, because I got to know all of you.”

“But we lost, Mr. Schue,” Miles said, “Even if the Holy Rollers are disqualified and we win, we would have only won because of that.”

“But you gave it your all, Miles. I’m still proud of you guys. Wait, where is Jaxon?”

“He said he had something he needed to take care of real quick,” James said.

Jaxon approached Archie and Aaron. Archie turned to face him. He raised his eyebrow questioningly.

“Relax, Carmichael. I come in peace,” Jaxon said.

“Good to know. Maybe I don’t.”

“What the hell was that you did back there? You came to our defense. Why?”

“I want to face New Directions at Nationals. I want the satisfaction of destroying you myself. I couldn’t let those two bit Catholic school girls win, especially when they were in violation of the code of conduct.”

“So this has nothing to do with James?”

“Everything I do has to do with James. I love him, Jaxon.”

“So do I, Archie. Thank you for what you did back there, but don’t expect us to become friends.”

“I wasn’t counting on it.”

“Then we’re on the same page?”

“Same paragraph.”

“Good,” Jaxon said.

“Good,” Archie repeated.

Jaxon turned around and walked off, leaving Archie standing there, watching him.

“That was awkward,” Aaron said. Archie glared at him.

“Shut up,” Archie said.

New Directions stood huddled together on the stage, hand in hand as they awaited the results. April Rhodes walked onstage, held her microphone to her mouth and faced the audience.

“Ladies and gentlemen, after review, it is an unanimous decision that the Holy Rollers were in violation of the code of conduct and have been disqualified. It is the judge’s decision to award the first place to New Directions!”

Everyone looked at each other in surprise. New Directions jumped up and down as they grabbed onto one another in celebration. Jaxon threw his fist in the air in victory as the crowd cheered.

The moment I first stepped on stage with this group and the curtain went up, this is what I imagined would be in our future. Standing there with the rest who had sang “The Nicest Kids In Town” with me, I knew we were destined for great things. I think Bella, Miles, Kevin, Nicole, and Honey knew it, too. Now here I was with them and the other friends we’ve made along the way, standing on stage as we accepted the trophy for winning Sectionals.

Jaxon smiled as he pulled James in close and hugged him.

“I told you were a star,” James said.

“We did it,” Jaxon said. “We won.”

Will walked into the choir room to the bright and smiling faces of the Glee Club as Jaxon and Bella raised the trophy in the air.

“We did it, Mr. Schue,” Jaxon said. “And we have you to thank. You never gave up on us.”

“Guys, you won this. You all got out there and gave it your all.”

“Well, you inspired a victory number,” Evan said. “We’d like to perform it for you if you’ll have a seat.”

Will nodded. “Okay. The floor is yours.”

Evan, Jaxon, John, Miles, and James all took center stage. Lucas, Kevin, and all the girls stood in the back as the music began to play.

“I look up to the sky,” New Directions sang. “And now the world is mine. I've known it all my life I made it, I made it! I used to dream about, the life I'm living now. I know that there's no doubt I made it, I made it!”

“Known from the city where no one believed in me,” John sang. “But I never give up the fight, yeah.”

“But now I'm on top,” Evan sang. “I told you to let it rock.”

“Rock,” Jaxon and Evan sang.

“The money's fallin' from the sky-y-y-y-y,” James sang. “I made it.”

“I look up to the sky,”New Directions sang. “And now the world is mine. I've known it all my life I made it, I made it! I used to dream about, the life I'm living now. I know that there's no doubt I made it, I made it!”

“Rooftop, hella choppa burning smoke,” Miles rapped. “Louie bag stay strapped wit a priceless globe. High life, flippin' and get some more. Paradise, the luxury marble floor. When I hit, hit me full of that cash. More money than I seen in a garbage can. Stunna island, money and the power. That's how we do it, make it rain, make it shower. Top floor, big timer doing big things. Over city views bought shawty new range. Flip another hundred, poppin' throwing hundreds. In a new Bentley, uptown stunna.”

“I look up to the sky,” New Directions sang. “And now the world is mine. I've known it all my life I made it, I made it! I used to dream about, the life I'm living now. I know that there's no doubt I made it, I made it!”

“Ooo I made it,” James and John sang. "I made it. I made it. I, I, I made it.”

“ Yo, ay, ay, listen,” Jaxon sang. “See I don't live for glamour, and I don't care for fame. I'm in this for the love of the game.”

“Funny how things can change,” Evan sang. “They didn't believe in me then, now they calling my na-a-me.”

“Now look who cashed in,” John sang. "They didn't wanna know me back then. But ever since I done gone platinum.”

“Everything turned around,” James sang. “And now the sky is falling down-n-n-n-n.”

“I look up to the sky,” New Directions sang. “And now the world is mine. I've known it all my life I made it, I made it! I used to dream about, the life I'm living now. I know that there's no doubt I made it, I made it!”

“I look to the sky-y-y,” Jaxon sang.

“I made it,”John sang.

“Ooo,” James sang.

“I, I, I Made it, I made it,” Evan sang.

“I made it, I made it,” New Directions sang.

“Yes, I did,” Jaxon sang. “Yes I did. Yes I did. Yes I did. Yes I did.”

“I, I, I made it,” New Directions sang.

Jaxon smiled as all the guys scooped him up and held him on their shoulders in a celebratory pose.

Will smiled as he held the Sectionals trophy above his head.
