Glee: The Next Generation Season 3, Episode #6: "Night Out"[]

So here’s what you missed on Glee: The Next Generation:

Evan worried about his extracurricular activities not being enough to get him in NYADA, so he tried to join an elite club known as the Legacy. But they wouldn’t have him because he was half white, and they’re really racist against white people. So Evan tried to stand his ground and he got beat up. Then he just snapped and performed a fierce and angry rendition of “Roman Holiday,” aptly retitled “Evan Holiday.” Jaxon is busy preparing for NYADA as well, but he’s really focused on the audition aspect. Nicole came to the realization that she wasn’t ready to take the next step with Warbler boyfriend, Dillon. This came on the heels of the news that India lied about being a virgin and slept with half of the guys in the school…and some outside of the school as it was she who instigated the night of experimentation between best friends Chuck and Claude. In the words of Santana, wanky! But anyway, it seems like Nicole is hiding something, which is okay with Adam, who has a crush on her. He’s got his own dark secret and only Miles knows it.

And that’s what you missed on Glee!

Miles picked up his pace to catch Jaxon, who was way ahead of him in the hallway. He fell in line beside him and put his hand on Jaxon’s shoulder.

“Have a minute?” Miles asked.

“Sure,” Jaxon said. “What’s the problem?”

Miles sighed. “It’s Evan. Is it just me, or has he been acting strangely lately?”

“You mean ever since he was rejected by The Legacy and they beat him up?” Jaxon asked, raising an eyebrow.

“No,” Miles said. “It has to be more to it than that. I think something else happened later that day. When he got home, he wasn’t himself. He was quiet and distant to say the least.”

“What are you guys talking about?” Nicole said, joining Miles and Jaxon.

“Evan,” Jaxon said. “He’s been acting weird ever since last week.”

“This Legacy nonsense really got to him, huh?” Nicole asked. “Not surprising. They’ve made a target out of him.”

“What do you mean they’ve made a target out of him?” Miles asked.

“They’ve been bullying him ever since the night he got beat up,” Nicole answered. “Of course, Evan won’t talk about it, but I’ve heard and seen a few things around the school. And to make matters worse, Louis is now in with The Legacy.”

“We’ve got to do something,” Jaxon said. “They are out of control and Evan doesn’t deserve this. Not even when he was India’s enforcer would he deserve it.”

“There is nothing we can do,” Miles said. “The Legacy is a powerful group. They have influence that we can only imagine.”

“No one is that powerful,” Nicole said.

“And no one is above the law,” Jaxon said. “You know what Figgins said about the slushies. That we can’t stop slushies because the school board does not recognize them as implements for bullying. However, they do recognize physical violence. Evan was assaulted at the Lima Bean, a public place. There had to be plenty of witnesses. We can do something about this.”

“I think we’re just wasting our time,” Miles said. “And that is not me being unsupportive of Evan. It’s me being realistic.”

“For once in your life, have faith, Miles,” Nicole said. “I’ll go with you to see Mr. Figgins, Jaxon. Someone has to do something.”

“You in?” Jaxon said, looking at Miles.

Miles sighed as he contemplated his decision.

____________________________________________________________

Figgins looked confused and intrigued as to why over half the Glee Club stood in his office, staring at him. Jaxon, Miles, Hallie, Lana, Honey, James, Claude, Rose, Kevin, Adam, Natasha, and Nicole were all huddled inside the office, staring at Figgins.

“Not that I am not both excited and happy to see you, children of the Glee Club, but to what do I owe the pleasure of you visiting my office today?” Figgins asked.

“There is a bullying problem here,” Hallie said.

“We think that you should do something about it,” Jaxon said.

“I have already told you Glee Club children that there is nothing I can do about your constantly being slushied,” Figgins said. “My hands are tied.”

“It’s not about the slushies,” Miles said.

“I don’t care about the slushies,” Adam said. “Natasha and I were slushied this morning. Yeah, it hurts a bit and it’s cold and sticky, but it’s not like being beat up.”

“Evan Marx was assaulted off school grounds by members of a club that rejected him,” Lana said.

“There is nothing I can do about what happens off school grounds,” Figgins said.

“But they are harassing him and picking on him at school as well,” Nicole said. “And they are using school time and classrooms to hold meetings of the same club.”

“Now, that is something I can do something about,” Figgins said. “I will not allow the school to be used to hold meetings of a club that bullies, harasses, and assaults my students.”

“So what does this mean?” Jaxon asked. “Put quite simply?”

“What this means,” Figgins said, “is that the Legacy can no longer use school grounds, school hours, or school funds for their club. I’m cutting McKinley’s ties to the Legacy, permanently.”

“Thank you,” Miles said. “I’m sure this will be a huge relief for Evan.”

“My pleasure, Mr. Larson,” Figgins said.

____________________________________________________________

Evan sat on his bed, his knees to his chest, clinging onto a pillow. He looked at his friends and then diverted his eyes.

“Consider this a partial victory,” Miles said.

“I won’t be happy until they are out of the school,” Evan said. “I live in fear because of them.”

“There is nothing we can do,” Jaxon said. “The assault happened at the Lima Bean.”

“They’re not gonna stop,” Evan said. “Especially since you guys got their club cut off from the school.”

“Figgins is ready for anything they throw at us or you,” Nicole said. “Don’t fret, Evan.”

“It’s not worth it to worry yourself so much,” Lana said.

“Something changed in me that day, Lana,” Evan said. “I know I am never gonna be the same. Those people pushed me over the edge and they’re getting away with it. I don’t like what I am becoming. I feel like there is a different me buried deep inside. A dark me, struggling to get free. And on that stage last week, he got free. I’m scared of him, of what he’s capable of. I’m scared of what he tells me to do, the thoughts he puts in my head.”

“Evan, you’re scaring me,” Jaxon said.

“You mean like an alter ego?” Kevin asked.

“Beyonce has one,” Evan said. “Nicki Minaj has a few.”

“Don’t bull-crap me, Evan,” Lana said. “This isn’t an alter ego. This is you at war with yourself and it’s not healthy.”

“Like you would understand,” Evan said. “I struggle to keep the darkness I feel at bay. You have any idea how hard this is? The toll it takes on me, both mentally and physically.”

“If you wanna get pissed off, get pissed off,” Lana said. “Scream at the top of your lungs if you need to. You are creating this darkness inside yourself by pushing these feeling deep down inside you. Let them out.”

“I’m afraid to let them out!” Evan shouted.

Jaxon and Miles traded worried glances before looking back at Evan.

“It’s okay to be conflicted,” Jaxon said. “To feel anger, hurt, confusion, exclusion- all the things you feel. But you have to find a healthy outlet for them.”

“The outlet is not the bottle you’re trying to force them into,” Lana said.

“I’m lightning in a bottle,” Evan said. “I’m a perfect storm brewing. I know it’s only a matter of time until I explode. That’s why I’m secluding myself right now. Please understand that.”

“Look,” Jaxon said. “We’re all so stressed from preparing for college, trying to graduate, and all that. I say tonight, we take one night to just have fun and live it up. Enjoy life while we’re still young and free. Let’s have a Glee Club night out.”

“Jaxon, you’re crazy,” Miles said. “But I like it. Yes, let’s do it.”

“I don’t want to,” Evan said.

“You need to get out and have fun,” Bella said. “You’re not doing yourself any favors sitting in that bed, cooped up in your room.”

“Since when do you care about me?” Evan asked.

“Since this Glee Club became a family,” Bella said.

“She’s right,” Ana said. “We’re family, through thick and thin.”

“Through the good and the bad,” Natasha said as she took Ana’s hand, “we got one another.”

“I just don’t feel like it,” Evan said. “Please, just let me have a little time to deal with things.”

“Okay,” Jaxon said. “You won’t get upset if we still go out tonight?”

Evan shook his head. “I’m choosing to stay here.”

“Well, you’re not staying alone,” Claude said. “I’m not gonna leave your side, baby.”

Evan smiled as Claude sat down beside Evan and took his hand.

“I’ll stay, too,” Miles said. “I mean, it’s the least I can do for letting me stay with you.”

“No,” Evan said. “Go and have fun, Miles. You deserve it after all you’ve been through. Claude and I will be fine. I want you guys to do this night out thing and have fun. You all need it.”

“So do you,” Hallie said.

“I need to collect myself,” Evan said. “That’s my first priority.”

“Okay,” Lana said. “If that’s what you want. You sure?”

Evan nodded. “I’ve never been more positive. And if you don’t go, I’ll sneak out and runaway to someplace to gather my thoughts. I just need this time.”

“Okay,” Jaxon said, giving Evan’s knee a squeeze as he got up. “I’ll bring you something back from the mall.”

As Jaxon and the rest of New Directions walked toward their cars, James turned to Jaxon.

“So, what’s our plan?” James asked.

Jaxon smiled. “Glad you asked.”

Jaxon turned to Taylor, Ana, and Nicole. He smiled as he pulled them all three toward him.

“Ladies? Help me out?”

Ana smiled. “Of course.”

Jaxon pulled out his cellphone and after fiddling with it for a minute, the music began to play.

“Put your sneakers on,” Jaxon sang. “Put your sneakers on. We're going dancing all night long.”

“I got somewhere to be,” Ana sang. “I want you to come with me.

“See I've put my sneakers on,” Nicole sang. “Cause I'm gonna keep dancing after they all go home.”

“So are you ready? Did you eat? Do you have the energy?” Jaxon and Ana sang. “Are you reloaded? Are you able to stay on your feet? Don't want you passing out after a couple hours of beats.”

“We're gonna keep going and going and going,” Taylor sang. “Yeah ‘cause.”

“Basically what we're gonna do is dance,” all four sang as they began to dance. “Basically what we’re gonna do is dance. Basically what we’re gonna do is dance. It will come easily when you hear the beat, oh. Basically what we're gonna do is dance, basically what we’re gonna do is dance. All you gotta do is take a chance. Yeah that's right, it's sneaker night.”

“So now they're closing, close it up,” Taylor sang. “Shut it down, go home now.”

“But this far from the end,” Nicole sang. “Second round, ding. It's about to begin.”

“Cause I got comfortable full,” Ana sang. “Where the weather is nice, so let's take it outside.”

“Just need some hand claps and the beatbox, and it's all right,”Jaxon sang.

“Basically what we're gonna do is dance,” all four sang. “Basically what we’re gonna do is dance. Basically what we’re gonna do is dance. It will come easily when you hear the beat, oh. Basically what we're gonna do is dance, basically what we’re gonna do is dance. Don't you even worry about other plans. Yeah, that's right it's sneaker night!”

“When the sun goes down,” Taylor and Ana sang. “Oh we wake up. I got no sleep. Ha! No need. No problem staying awake when the beat is like an earthquake.”

“We're unstoppable, we're uncontrollable,” Jaxon and Nicole sang. “Just admit it, you can't stop it. It's addictive.”

“Basically what we're gonna do is dance,” all four sang. “Basically what we’re gonna do is dance. Basically what we’re gonna do is dance. It will come easily when you hear the beat, oh. Basically what we're gonna do is dance, basically what we’re gonna do is dance. All you gotta do is take a chance. Yeah that's right, it's sneaker night.”

“Put your sneakers on,” Jaxon sang. “Let's go all night long.”

“I’m not dancing,” Lana said, very matter of factly.

Jaxon laughed as he pulled Lana in for a hug.

Evan stood in his window, looking down at his friends. He watched as everyone laughed as they got into their vehicles. He forced a half smile and closed the curtain.

As New Directions run through the parking lot of Six Flags, Taylor struggled to keep up. She finally stopped to take off her high heels and yelped as she sat her foot down on the hot pavement.

“Hot!” Taylor squealed.

Miles stopped and looked at Taylor. He laughed nonchalantly as he decided to pick her up and carry her the rest of the way.

“So,” Lana said to Jaxon as they reached the ticket booth. “What’s the itinerary, oh great master planner?”

“Six Flags until we puke,” Jaxon said. “Then the mall closes next, so we’ll go there after we leave here.”

“And what is planned at the mall?” Hallie asked.

Jaxon smiled his cocky half-smile. “You’ll see. Then it’s karaoke at Santana’s Place and finally, thanks to some fake IDs that Aldy scored for us, Scandals.”

“I smell a recipe for disaster,” Honey said.

“Loosen up, Berry,” Ana said. “It’ll be fun.”

“I think I will head home early, though,” Aldy said. “Nothing against gay people because like half the Glee Club is gay and I love you guys, no offense.”

“None taken,” Lucas said.

“It’s just I am a recovering alcoholic and Scandals is a hot bed of temptation. I think I will have to pass.”

“I completely understand,” Jaxon said.

“Six Flags is on me,” Lana said, pulling out her American Express and handing it to the man in the ticket booth.

“How many?” The man asked.

“Sixteen,” Lana said.

The man punched something in, swiped Lana’s card and handed it back to her.

“Sixteen times fifty is eight hundred dollars,” Nicole said. “You’re just gonna drop that much money like it’s nothing?”

Lana smiled. “For you guys, of course. Alright guys, let’s have some fun.”

“I’m so glad they finally opened up a Six Flags here,” Rose said. “This girl loves her thrill rides.”

“I wanna ride the Maximum Overload,” James said. “The tallest, fastest, and craziest coaster in the Midwest. Three G’s of pure adrenaline rush.”

“I am gonna pee my pants,” Kevin said as he looked up at the towering coaster in front of him.

“You get to sit alone,” Miles said.

“Poor Kevin,” Nicole said.

“So you’ll sit with me?” Kevin asked, looking at Nicole hopefully.

Nicole put her hand on Kevin’s shoulder. “Nope.”

“What are you guys waiting for?” Ana asked as she ran ahead, securing her place in line.

____________________________________________________________

The members of New Directions looked at one another, smiling as the roller coaster slowly pulled up to what would be a three hundred foot drop. As it came to a stop atop the incline, James smiled.

“Life is good I can't complain,”James sang, taking Jaxon’s hand.

“I mean I could but no one's listening,”Bella sang.

“Your image overwhelms my brain,”Kevin sang.

“And it feels good, good, good,”Rose sang as she put her hands on Kevin’s shoulders.

As the roller coaster travelled down the incline, picking up speed, everyone screamed at the top of their lungs.

“Now I'm rolling my window down,” Lana sang.

“I love the wind but I hate the sound,”Hallie sang.

“You're like a tattoo that I can't remove,” Jaxon sang.

“And it feels good, it feels good, it feels good,”Miles sang.

Everyone braced themselves as they sped through a double loop, holding on tightly.

“Like a rollercoaster ride,” New Directions sang. “Holding on, white knuckles like whoa, whoa. Got me feeling like whoa, whoa. Every time I'm like up and down and side to side, every inch of me is like whoa, whoa. Got me feeling like whoa, whoa. Got me feeling like.”

“In the morning it begins again,”Taylor sang.

“Feels like I'm falling, better strap me in,”Adam sang.

“I think I'm running out of oxygen,”Natasha sang.

“And it feels good, it feels good, it feels good,”Ana sang.

“My inhibitions are beginning to let go,”Aldy sang.

“This situation, I can't help but lose control,”Nicole sang.

“No inner friction that I cannot seem to break,”Honey sang.

“It feels good, it feels good,”Lucas sang.

“I'm holding on, I'm holding on,” New Directions sang. “Like a roller coaster ride. Like I'm running a red light. Like a rocket ship is like something else that makes me feel like whoa. Like a roller coaster, whoa. Holding on, white knuckles, whoa. Every inch of me is like whoa, whoa. Got me feeling like whoa, whoa.”

As the roller coaster pulled into the loading area, everyone laughed.

“That was fun,” Lucas said.

“You know what I’m thinking?” Jaxon asked. “Cotton candy and corn dogs!”

New Direction erupted into cheers.

Claude smiled as he moved a little closer to Evan. “Come on, loosen up for me, baby. Let your Claudey Bear make you feel real good.”

Evan smiled a half-hearted smile. “I want to, but I can’t. I just feel so pissed off right now.”

“Let it go, Evan,” Claude said. “You’re lucky I wasn’t there. I would have busted some skulls. But it’s in the past. No use letting it bring you down and hang over you like some dark cloud.”

Evan smiled as he climbed atop Claude and pinned Claude’s wrists in place.

“Whoa,” Claude said as he looked at Evan. “I’m not used to you taking charge like this.”

“It’s all part of the brand new me,” Evan said as he leaned down and kissed Claude. As Evan broke the kiss, he bit Claude’s lower lip.

Claude was entranced as Evan pulled off his shirt and threw it aside.

“What are you waiting for?” Evan asked. “Make me feel better.”

New Directions laughed amongst themselves as they walked through the food court in the Lima Mall. Jaxon, Lana, James, Miles, Natasha, Bella, Nicole, and Kevin all snacked on chocolate frozen yogurt. Hallie, Taylor, Ana, Adam, Aldy, Lucas, Honey, and Rose snacked on baked soft pretzels and cheese.

“I am so stuffed,” Miles said. “But I can’t stop eating.”

“Maybe we should have skipped Chung’s Chinese after the cotton candy and corndogs at Six Flags,” Adam said. “I’m a growing boy, but this is a little much.”

“Come on,” Hallie said. “You only live once. Tonight is supposed to be the most fun night to ever exist.”

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Kevin asked Miles.

“I rarely think what you’re thinking,” Miles said. “We’re completely on different wavelengths.”

“Escalator races!” Kevin exclaimed.

Miles shook his head as he smacked Kevin in the back of the head. Kevin rubbed the back of his head, a confused look on his face.

“What was that for?” Kevin asked.

“Escalator races? What the hell are you thinking?” Miles asked, shaking his head.

“I’m gonna to try and find a place that sells music instruments,” Lana said. “I need new drumsticks.”

“I’ll go, too,” Hallie said as she took Lana’s hand. “Can we stop by Toys ‘R’ Us? I wanna pick up something for Eva and Ethan.”

“Of course,” Lana said.

“I’m about to hit up Spencer’s,” Jaxon said. “Let’s meet back here in a hour. I have an idea that I wanna try out.”

“I’m coming with you,” James said. “Spencer’s is my favorite place ever.”

“There’s a little shop I passed on the way in,” Miles said. “It sells hip hop bling and it’s called Ice Ice, Babi, I wanna check it out.”

“So I guess we’re going our separate ways for now,” Bella said.

“I wanna go to the toy store and press all the ‘try me’ buttons at once,” Kevin said.

Rose smiled. “Then, come on. Let’s go. I’ll help you push them all. It’s kind of a big job for one person.”

____________________________________________________________

Lana stood aside watching as Jaxon, James, and Miles carried the giant box out the door. She had a big smile on her face.

“I can’t believe you bought that electric ride on car for the twins,” Hallie said. “It was way too much. You shouldn’t have.”

“I haven’t even spent my whole allowance for the month, yet” Lana said. “It’s no big. I just wanna see the smile on their faces. Luckily Jaxon has a truck so we could get it home. I didn’t think about how big it would be. But it is a double seater, so I should have known. I know they’re gonna love it.”

Hallie smiled. “I have the most amazing girlfriend ever.”

Lana blushed as she leaned and kissed Hallie’s forehead.

“Alright,” Jaxon said as he returned to join his friends. “I picked up something to help out with my little plan. James, would you?”

James nodded as he reached down into the giant bag on the floor in front of him and pulled out a small boombox.

Lana looked at Jaxon, raising an eyebrow. “I told you, I’m not dancing.”

“Just this once?” Jaxon asked as he grabbed Lana’s hand. “For me?”

Lana sighed. “Oh the things you talk me into.”

Jaxon smiled as he pressed the play button on the boombox. “Let’s do this.”

As the music began, Lana laughed. Jaxon jumped up onto the edge of the wishing fountain, holding his hand out to help Lana up to join him. James, Hallie, and Miles jumped up onto the edge of the fountain as well.

“Looking out a dirty old window,” Jaxon sang. “Down below the cars in the city go rushing by. I sit here alone and I wonder why.”

“Friday night and everyone's moving,” Lana sang. “I can feel the heat but it's soothing, heading down. I search for the beat in this dirty town.”

Lana looked up as the rest of New Directions rushed down the two escalators.

“Oh my god,” Lana said. “We’re starting a flash mob.”

The rest of New Directions joined Jaxon, Lana, Hallie, James, and Miles as a crowd began to form around them. They all danced around the edge of the fountain.

“Downtown the young ones are going,” Taylor sang. “Downtown the young ones are growing.”

“We're the kids in America, whoa,” New Directions sang. “We're the kids in America, whoa. Everybody live for the music-go-round.”

“Bright lights, the music gets faster,” Honey sang. “Look, boy, don't check on your watch, not another glance.”

“I'm not leaving now, honey, not a chance,”Lucas sang.

Lana looked amazed as people from the crowd started to join in. Pretty soon, everyone nearby was either dancing or standing around and watching.

“Hot-shot, give me no problems,” Nicole sang. “Much later, baby, you'll be saying nevermind.”

“You know life is cruel, life is never kind,”Adam sang.

“Kind hearts don't make a new story,” Bella sang. “Kind hearts don't grab any glory.”

“We're the kids in America, whoa,” New Directions sang. “We're the kids in America, whoa. Everybody live for the music-go-round. La la la la-la la-a. La la la la-la la. Sing! La la la la-la la-a. La la la la-la la.”

“Come closer, honey, that's better,” Kevin sang. “Got to get a brand new experience, feeling right.”

“Oh, don't try to stop, baby, hold me tight,”Rose sang.

“Outside a new day is dawning,” Natasha sang. “Outside suburbia's sprawling everywhere. I don't want to go, baby.”

“New York to east California,” Ana sang. “There's a new wave coming, I warn ya.”

“We're the kids in America, whoa,” New Directions sang. “We're the kids in America, whoa. Everybody live for the music-go-round. La la la la-la la-a. La la la la-la la. Sing! La la la la-la la-a. La la la la-la la. We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America. We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America. We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids in America.”

As the song ended, the crowd burst into wild applause and cheers.

“Guys,” Jaxon said with a smile. “Our first flash mob. Congratulations.”

Miles looked as Bella made her way to the exit. He ran ahead to catch up with her.

“Where are you going?” Miles asked. “Skipping out on us, too?”

“This doesn’t feel right, not without Evan. He’s been here since the beginning. He’s a part of this, of us. I’m gonna try my best to convince him to join us.”

“He won’t do it,” Miles said. “He won’t listen to us.”

“He’ll listen to me,” Bella said.

“How do you know?” Miles said.

“I just do,” Bella said as she turned around and walked out the door.

____________________________________________________________

As Evan pulled on his underwear under the cover, there was a knock the door.

“I’ll get it,” Claude said as he pulled the cover around his waist and walked to the door. He opened it and felt a bit embarrassed as Bella stood there.

“Oh, hi,” Claude said.

“I think I came at a bad time,” Bella said.

“No, no,” Evan said from behind Claude. “Come in, Bella.”

Bella walked into Evan’s room, a little shy at first. Evan quickly threw on his pants and shirt.

“Sorry,” he said. “Why aren’t you out there enjoying tonight?”

“Because you aren’t there,” Bella said. “You are part of New Directions, Evan. And without you, it just seems like part of our family is missing. Things are about to get so serious for us and this could be the last night to live it up and have fun. We could have just one night only to enjoy being young and being together and you can’t miss that.”

“One night only, huh?” Evan asked, thinking.

“You want all my love and my devotion,” Bella sang as Evan smiled at her. “You want my love and soul, right on the line. I have no doubt that I could love you, forever. The only trouble is, you really don't have the time. You've got one night only, one night only. That's all you have to spare. One night only, let's not pretend to care. One night only, one night only. Come on, big baby, come on. One night only, we only have 'til dawn.”

Bella sat down on the foot of the bed and put her hand on top of Evan’s.

“In the morning this feeling will be gone, it has no chance going on. Something so right has got no chance to live. So let's forget about chances, it's one night I will give. One night only, one night only. You'll be the only one. One night only, then you have to run. One night only, one night only. There's nothing more to say. One night only, words get in the way. One night only, one night only, one night only.”

Evan smiled. “Okay, let’s do this. I’ll have Claude get dressed--”

“Already done,” Claude said as he pulled his shoes on. “Let’s go.”

Evan and Bella looked at one another and smiled.

New Directions stood outside Santana’s place, fixated on the giant neon sign.

“Couldn’t be,” Lana said.

“It is,” Jaxon said. “It’s named after and owned by Santana Lopez. I kind of figured when we were here a couple weeks ago. So I asked Brittany and sure enough, I was right. Turns out that she took the money her mom gave her to go to New York and put it in savings while she was at college. It gained interest, she bought this little place for essentially nothing, and transformed it.”

“Hey guys,” Bella said as she walked up to join her friends.

“You got Evan to come?” Jaxon said as he looked at Evan. “Glad you made it.”

“Bella made a strong case,” Evan said. “I couldn’t say no.”

“How did you do it?” Miles asked.

“Belief in the persuading power of friendship and Dreamgirls,” Bella said. “I knew if the power of friendship failed, Dreamgirls wouldn’t.”

Evan laughed. “So, you guys ready to do some karaoke?”

____________________________________________________________

Evan and Claude stood onstage as the rest of New Directions sat front row, cheering them on.

“You got this!” Jaxon cheered, pointing at them.

“Boy I see you, looking at me,” Claude sang. “I feel your eyes on me, like you gotta have me. Watching every move, like it's for you. You can't help it, you're attracted like a magnet.”

“My love ain't easy,” Evan sang. “You gonna have to put in some work. You can't buy me a drink, thinking I'mma fall for your flirt. You gotta make it right if you wanna go spend some time. You gotta raise the bar tonight.”

“Love me, baby treat me right,” Evan and Claude sang. “Make it eternity and not only one night. If you love me till the end of time, then I will promise you the night of your life. So now love me, baby treat me right and we'll be riding it from morning till midnight. If you love me till the end of time, then I will promise you the night of your life. Night of your life, life, life. Night of your life, life, life.”

“I could have you, if I wanted to,” Evan sang. “Down on one knee, in front of me where them bells ringing. I could claim you, be your savior. Wrap your heart inside of these arms and you'll never leave.”

“I could have your hands tied, round my body all up on me,” Claude sang. “Boy you'll be stuck to me, if I wanted with no release. I'll have you begging, wishing now I give a piece. Baby you'll never be the same.”

“Taller than a mountain, deeper than the sea,” Claude sang. “You're boiling hot for me babe, one hundred degrees.”

“I want you to love me like your favorite dream,” Evan sang. “Let's make tonight a reality.”

“So now love me, baby treat me right and we'll be riding it from morning till midnight.” Evan and Claude sang. “If you love me til the end of time, then I will promise you the night of your life. Night of your life, life, life. Night of your life, life, life. Night of your life, life, life.”

“Oh my god,” Lana said. “They just had sex.”

“How can you tell?” Miles asked.

“The afterglow, the awkward smiles, the song choice,” Lana replied.

“The fact that I caught them half naked,” Bella said as everyone looked at her.

“What time is it?” Jaxon asked.

Hallie looked at her watch. “Ten forty-seven.”

“Let’s go hit up Scandals,” Jaxon said.

“And that is my cue to leave,” Aldy said. “You guys have a great night.”

“Bye,” James said as Aldy got up and walked out the door.

“Well,” Honey asked. “Who’s ready for the disaster? It’s gonna crash and burn faster than the Hindenburg.”

Jaxon looked down at his fake ID as New Directions walked into Scandals.

“I can’t believe Aldy got us such realistic fake IDs,” Jaxon said under his breath.

“Oh gosh, I need something strong to drink,” Lana said. “I need to flush the taste of vomit out of my mouth. I puked a little thanks to the visual image of Evan and Claude that was placed in my head by that song.”

“You secretly liked it, Lana,” Claude joked. “Don’t even.”

Hallie pulled Lana close to her.

“Sneak out tonight and I will put a very sexy image in your head,” Hallie said. “I bought a little something at Victoria's Secret while you were distracted with that toy.”

“What kind of toy is she talking about?” Miles asked.

“I don’t know but if she pulls out a vibrator, I’m gone,” Evan said.

Lana narrowed her eyes at Evan. “Seriously?”

“Well,” Hallie said. “What do you say?”

“I say don't tempt me,” Lana replied.

“Do you like black lace?” Hallie said with a wink as she bit her lower lip.

“I could just eat you up,” Lana said to Hallie.

“Please, no more talking about eating,” Adam said. “I ate too much and my stomach hurts.”

“Believe me, what I want isn't on the menu," Lana said with a smile.

“Oh,” Adam said, coming to a realization. “Oh. Okay then. I get it. I'm going now.”

Adam walked ahead and took a seat at a large table. The rest of New Directions followed, taking their place at the table. Those who wouldn’t fit sat at the other large table directly behind them.

“Welcome to Scandal’s,” an emcee said as he took the stage. “Tonight is our famous Scandal’s Karaoke Drag Review, meaning that it’s open mic night and while one of your lovely ladies and gents sings, one of our gorgeous drag superstars will take the stage. Any volunteers?

Jaxon shoved Honey’s hand into the air.

“What are you doing?” Honey asked.

“Get up there and sing, Honey,” Jaxon said. “Who knows, this could be a big chance for you. Take it.”

Honey nodded. “Okay, I’ll do it.”

“Yes,” the emcee said, pointing at Honey. “The lovely young lady in the front with her hand up.”

Honey smiled. “Lovely? Why, thank you.”

“That’s a cute boyfriend you have,” the emcee said, pointing at Jaxon.

“Him?” Honey said with a laugh. “He’s my brother’s boyfriend.”

“Oh, he’s one of us,” the emcee said with a smile. “Jackpot!”

Jaxon blushed as the crowd erupted into cheers.

“Well, anyway little Miss, come on up here and sing for us,” the emcee said as he reached down and took Honey’s hand, leading her up onto the stage.

“Woo!” Lucas cheered. “You go, Honey!”

“Do you have a song in mind?” the emcee asked.

“How about ‘Let’s Hear It For the Boy’ then?” Honey asked as adjusted her microphone stand.

The emcee smiled. “You got it, little lady. Now, everyone please put your hands together for one of our very own superstar, Miss Aria Carmichael!”

Jaxon made a face at the last name. “Carmichael. Ugh.”

As the music began, a gorgeous drag queen walked out onstage. She was dressed like Katy Perry. Purple wig, peppermint bra, red boa, white skirt with various candies attached, fishnet stockings, and a pair of six inch high heels.

“She looks so familiar,” James said.

“You know, she does,” Hallie said.

“My baby, he don't talk sweet,” Honey sang as Aria began to dance around. “He ain't got much to say but he loves me, loves me, loves me. I know that he loves me anyway. And maybe he don't dress fine, but I don't really mind. 'Cause every time he pulls me near, I just wanna cheer. Let's hear it for the boy! Oh, let's give the boy a hand. Let's hear it for my baby! You know you gotta understand. Oh, maybe he's no Romeo, but he's my loving one-man show. Oh, whoa, let's hear it for the boy!”

Aria pranced to the front of the stage and took off the peppermint bra, revealing a very fit male torso. James’ mouth dropped open as he focused on the small black heart tattoo right above the hip bone. Aria threw the peppermint bra into the crowd and Evan’s face went red as it landed in his lap.

“It can’t be,” James said.

“My baby may not be rich, he's watching every dime. But he loves me, loves me, loves me. We always have a real good time. And maybe he sings off-key but that's alright by me, yeah. ‘Cause what he does, he does so well, makes me wanna yell.”

“What?” Jaxon asked.

“That’s Archie,” James said.

Lana did a spit-take, trying to cover her mouth to stop the spray.

“Are you kidding me?” Lana asked.

“Let's hear it for the boy. Oh, let's give the boy a hand. Let's hear it for my baby. You know you gotta understand. Oh, maybe he's no Romeo, but he's my loving one-man show. Oh, whoa, let's hear it for the boy.”

Archie walked to the front of the stage and ripped open the skirt and tossed it aside, revealing a G-string.

“I think I’m gonna be sick,” Jaxon said. “He used to date my James.”

Archie kneeled down as patrons starting shoving dollars into his G-string.

“Kevin!” Rose shouted. “Get back here!”

“I can’t help it,” Kevin said. “I feel compelled to shove dollars down her pants.”

“He does know that’s a guy, right?” Miles asked Rose.

“He does know that’s Archie?” Rose asked.

“’Cause every time he pulls me near, I just wanna cheer. Let's hear it for the boy. Oh, let's give the boy a hand. Let's hear it for my baby. You know you gotta understand. Oh, maybe he's no Romeo, but he's my loving one-man show. Oh, whoa, let's hear it for the boy. Let's hear it for the boy. Let's hear it for my man. Let's hear it for my babe. Let's hear it for my man. Let's hear it for the boy. Let's hear it for my babe. Let's hear it for the boy. Let's hear it for my man, yeah. Let's hear it for my babe. Let's hear it for the boy. Pull yourself together, let's hear it for my babe. Let's hear it for the boy. Whoa, let's hear it for my boy. Let's hear it for my babe. Let's hear it for my man. Let's hear it for the boy. Let's hear it for my babe. Let's hear it for my man.”

“I need some air,” Jaxon said as he got up and started toward the door.

James started to follow, but Lana shook her head.

“Let him breathe, Jamie,” Lana said.

“I’m gonna go dance with my lady,” Miles said as he took Taylor’s hand. “Catch you all on the flip side.”

Miles and Taylor walked into the crowd as they danced to some cheesy 80’s song that likely only half of them remembered.

“Well,” Lana said. “Miles and Taylor made it a month so far. Looks like I lost the bet.”

“You did better than me,” Rose said. “I lost the bet two weeks ago.”

“I lost it three weeks ago,” Hallie said.

Miles smiled as he kissed Taylor. “You look beautiful tonight.”

“Thank you, babe,” Taylor replied. “Let me go get us something to drink.”

Miles smiled. “Hurry back.”

Miles bit his lower lip as he watched Taylor walk away.

“Excuse me, a girl said from behind Miles. “My name is Kayla and I’m here with my gay best friend. He met some guy and left me all alone. I noticed you dancing with your friend and I was hoping I could get a dance as well.”

Miles laughed. “Sorry, but that’s my girlfriend.”

“I just can’t believe that’s your girlfriend when I know you could do so much better,” Kayla said with a wink.

“What was that?” Taylor asked, standing a foot away, clasping two margaritas.

“I think you heard me, blondie,” Kayla said. “Or maybe I should use smaller words.”

“I think I asked you to repeat yourself,” Taylor said. “I do believe I misheard that as you can’t be so stupid to hit on my man with me in the same room.”

“The only stupid one here is you,” Kayla said.

“You’re a gutsy little bitch,” Taylor said. “Too bad I’m gonna rip those guts right out along with your sad excuse for a weave!”

Miles stepped back. “I am not in on this. I shot her down.”

Taylor flung the two margaritas right into Kayla’s eyes. Kayla let out a scream as she grabbed her face.

“Ow! It’s burning my eyes!”

“I’ll teach you to never mess with my man!” Taylor said, lunging at Kayla.

From the crowded corner, Brittany Pierce made her way to the front.

“Stop the violence,” she said.

Taylor grabbed Kayla’s hair and pulled as hard as she could until she had two handfuls of ripped out hair. She let out a violent scream as she grabbed Kayla’s head and started to bang it into the floor.

“What the hell is going on?” Jaxon asked Brittany as he appeared at her side.

“That one girl hit on Miles and his girlfriend went Xena: Warrior Princess on her,” Brittany said. “It was insane.”

“Epic,” Lana said as she watched Kayla clawing at Taylor, trying to get Taylor off of her.

Kevin stood on top of a chair, his camera pointed down at Kayla and Taylor, recording them. Kayla managed to finally get Taylor off of her and she crawled toward the opening in the crowd beside Jaxon.

“Help me,” she said, reaching toward him.

Kayla let out a blood curdling scream as she was pulled into the middle of the crowd behind her and swallowed up by the people as they closed in around her.

“Do something,” Brittany said.

“I’m going in,” Jaxon said.

“Hey, barkeep!” Lana called. “You got any popcorn?”

Jaxon charged into the crowd and wrestled to pull Taylor off Kayla. He struggled to pull the resisting Taylor from the crowd.

“Down, girl,” Jaxon said, holding her.

New Directions sat on the curb outside Scandals, looking disappointed.

“Way to go, Taylor,” Hallie said. “You got us kicked out of Scandals for life.”

“Don’t blame me. Blame that jezebel,” Taylor said. “It was her fault.”

“That was the best thing all night,” Lana said. “Until we got kicked out.”

“Why should the night end now?” Jaxon asked. “The party doesn’t have to stop. So what, we got kicked out. There is still fun to be had.”

“It’s midnight,” Evan said. “Where would we go?”

“We can have fun right here,” Jaxon said. "The party and fun isn’t were the action is. It’s where our friends are.”

“Jaxon, you sound like a fortune cookie,” Lana said.

“You had to say fortune cookie,” Adam said. “I’m now having Chung’s Chinese flashbacks. I definitely ate too much Kung Pao chicken.”

“Start us off, Kevin,” Jaxon said as he jumped up and took Kevin’s hand.

Jaxon helped Kevin to his feet and ran to his car and grabbed the boombox. He sat it on the hood of his truck and pressed play.

“I hopped off the plane at L.A.X. with a dream and my cardigan,” Kevin sang. “Welcome to the land of fame excess, am I gonna fit in? Jumped in the cab, here I am for the first time. Look to my right and I see the Hollywood sign. This is all so crazy, everybody seems so famous.”

“My tummy's turning and I'm feeling kinda home sick,” Adam sang. “Too much pressure and I'm nervous. That's when the taxi man turned on the radio and a Jay-Z song was on. And the Jay-Z song was on. And the Jay-Z song was on.”

“So I put my hands up, they're playing my song and the butterflies fly away,” New Directions sang. “I'm nodding my head like yeah. I'm moving my hips like yeah. I got my hands up, they're playing my song. I know I'm gonna be okay. Yeah, it's a party in the USA. Yeah, it's a party in the USA.”

“Get to the club in my taxi cab,” Jaxon sang. “Everybody's looking at me now. Like ‘who's that dude, that's rockin' kicks? He gotta be from out of town.’ So hard with my girls not around me. It's definitely not a Nashville party 'cause all I see are stilettos. I guess I never got the memo.”

“My tummy's turnin' and I'm feelin' kinda home sick,” Adam sang. “Too much pressure and I'm nervous. That's when the D.J. dropped my favorite tune.”

“And a Britney song was on,” Jaxon and Adam sang. “And a Britney song was on. And a Britney song was on.”

“Feel like hopping on a flight,”Kevin sang,

“On a flight,”New Directions sang.

“Back to my hometown tonight.”

“Town tonight.”

“Something stops me every time.”

“Every time.”

“The DJ plays my song and I feel alright” Jaxon sang.

Yeah, it's a party in the USA. I put my hands up, they're playing my song and the butterflies fly away. I'm nodding my head like yeah. I'm moving my hips like yeah. I got my hands up, they're playing my song. I know I'm gonna be okay. Yeah, it's a party in the USA. Yeah, it's a party in the USA.”

As the song came to an end, Jaxon pulled Adam and Kevin in for a hug. The rest of New Directions joined in for a group hug. Out of nowhere, a shoe hit Taylor in the back of the head. Taylor turned around and saw Kayla standing there, her other shoe in hand.

“Come and get me, you psycho bitch!” Kayla said. “I’m ready for you this time!”

Taylor took off running after Kayla, who screamed and threw her other shoe, which Taylor dodged.

“Taylor!” Jaxon screamed.

“Go for the jugular!” Lana shouted.

“I’m gonna need a little help,” Jaxon said, looking at Miles and Kevin.

The three of them sighed as they chased after Taylor.
