Glee: The Next Generation Episode #15: RegionalsEdit

So here’s what you missed on Glee: The Next Generation:

New Directions lost Sectionals, but when The Holy Rollers got disqualified thanks to Archie, James’ ex and Vocal Adrenaline member, New Directions got first place. Now they’re going to Regionals, but due to all the craziness that’s been going on, they haven’t managed to put anything together. Seriously, there was Will and Emma’s wedding, the New Year’s Party, Holly Holiday…and that was just the tip of the iceberg. John and Miles got into a fight because Miles butted in about John’s cutting himself. Now they’re both suspended and have to miss Regionals. Unless New Directions finds another member, they’ll be disqualified.

And that’s what you missed on Glee!

Declan walked down the hall, effectively ignoring Jaxon, James, Bella, and Honey.

“Please just say yes,” Bella pleaded. “You’re our only chance.”

“I don’t sing. That’s not my thing,” Declan replied.

“You don’t have to sing. Just lip-synch and sway in the background,” Jaxon said.

“I don’t fit in Glee Club. I’m not the best singer. I can’t dance.”

Honey walked in front of Declan and put her hand out to stop him from walking any further.

“Dec, if we don’t have a thirteenth member, we get disqualified. Right now, we’d take a singing and dancing monkey,” Honey said.

“Good. Cuz that’s what you will be getting if I join Glee Club,” Declan said.

“Declan, you said to me the other night how much you missed hanging out with Jaxon,” James said. “Consider this an ample opportunity to spend more time with your best friend and brother.”

“I will singlehandedly cost you guys Nationals. I don’t want that.”

“What is it gonna take to get you to join Glee Club?” Bella asked.

Declan stopped walking and looked at Bella. “Take me to the auditorium and someone perform a song for me. If I find myself thoroughly enjoying it and it feels right, I’ll join Glee Club.”

Jaxon exhaled a sigh of relief. “Thank God. James and I were planning on running through a song anyway.”

Bella smiled. “Great. Let’s do this.”

Jaxon stood on the stage, wearing a vintage Rolling Stones 40 Lick t-shirt, leather jacket, and dark red leather pants. He had spiked his hair and wore a red and black bandana.

“Now, Declan, this is a little rough. We were practicing it for Glee Club Monday, but we put it on hold to work for Regionals,” Jaxon said.

Jaxon held his hand out to Bella, who took it as Jaxon led her to the middle of the stage with him.

“I need my dancing partner,” Jaxon said with a smile.

Lucas took a spot near the back of the stage, in front of a back-up microphone. Jaxon noticed he was in position and gave the band the cue to begin.

Lucas began to whistle as the music began. Jaxon grabbed Bella and they began to dance together, a combo of salsa and the fox trot.

“Oh. Oh! Just shoot for the stars,” Jaxon sang. “If it feels right, then aim for my heart. If you feel like and take me away and make it OK. I swear I'll behave. You wanted control, so we waited. I put on a show, now I make it. You say I'm a kid. My ego is big. I don't give a--”

“Shh!” Bella said.

“And it goes like this,” Jaxon sang. “Take me by the tongue and I'll know you. Kiss me 'til you're drunk and I'll show you all the moves like Jagger. I've got them moves like Jagger. I've got them mo-o-o-oves like Jagger. I don't need to try to control you. Look into my eyes and I'll own you with them moves like Jagger. I've got them moves like Jagger. I've got them mo-o-o-oves like Jagger. Maybe it's hard when you feel like you're broken and scarred. Nothing feels right but when you're with me. I'll make you believe that I've got the key. Oh! So get in the car, we can ride it wherever you want. Get inside it and you want to steer but I'm shifting gears. I'll take it from here Oh! Yeah, yeah! And it goes like this.”

Jaxon let go of Bella and began to dance on his own.

Take me by the tongue and I'll know you. Kiss me 'til you're drunk and I'll show you all the moves like Jagger. I've got them moves like Jagger. I've got them mo-o-o-oves like Jagger. I don't need to try to control you. Look into my eyes and I'll own you with them moves like Jagger. I've got them moves like Jagger.’

“Ye-ye-yeah,”James sang as he and Hallie danced together onto the stage.

“I've got them mo-o-o-oves like Jagger,”Jaxon sang, winking at Declan.

“You wanna know how to make me smile,”James sang as he continued to dance with Hallie. “Take control, own me just for the night. And if I share my secret, you're gonna have to keep it. Nobody else can see this. So watch and learn, I won't show you twice. Head to toe, oooh baby rub me right. But if I share my secret, you're gonna have to keep it. Nobody else can see this. Ay! Ay! Ay! Aaay!”

“And it goes like this,”Jaxon sang as he walked over to James.

James let go of Hallie, who walked over to join Bella. James grabbed onto Jaxon and they began to dance together.

“Take me by the tongue,”Jaxon sang. “And I'll know you.”

“Take me by the tongue,”James sang.

“Kiss me 'til you're drunk and I'll show you.”

“Yea-yeah!”

“All the moves like Jagger. I've got them moves like Jagger. I've got them mo-o-o-oves like Jagger.”

“Oh, yeah!” “I don't need to try to control you.”

“Ooh.”

“Look into my eyes and I'll own you with them moves like Jagger. I've got them moves like Jagger. I've got them mo-o-o-oves like Jagger.”

The music came to an end and Jaxon and James paused for applause. Declan slowly stood up and began to clap. Jaxon looked at James and smiled.

“Okay, guys. You convinced me. I’m in,” Declan said.

Bella was so excited she ran down the steps and tackle hugged Declan.

“Yes! Welcome to the club!” Bella said.

____________________________________________________________

Holly looked sad as she packed all her belongings up in the choir room. She took one last look at the empty seats.

“It drives you crazy how much you miss them,” Will said as he stood in the doorway.

“Yeah. Those kids are special, Will,” Holly said.

“They’re good kids. They make mistakes from time to time.”

“Tell me about it,” Holly said. “Do I need to fill you in?”

“No, Coach Beiste has already told me. Endgame couple Jameson almost hit the skids for good. Jevan was on for a New York minute. John has been struggling with self harm. Miles and John are no longer friends. They got into a fist fight, got suspended, and now Glee Club is short a member for Regionals. Did I miss anything?”

Holly smiled. “No, that about covers it. I did what I could, Will. I managed to get James and Jaxon back together, but there was nothing I could do about losing Miles and John.”

“It’s not your fault, Holly. When are you gonna stop blaming yourself?”

“When I stop feeling like all I do is mess up, Will. I even forgot about Regionals. I let New Directions fall behind in planning for it.”

“That was mostly my fault. I was so busy with my wedding and honeymoon plans that I let the kids once again slip through the cracks. It was like year one, all over again.”

“By the way, Will, where did you go on your honeymoon?”

“Acapulco. Can you believe it?”

Will and Holly laughed.

“Listen, Will, I can make small talk all day and act like I’m not heartbroken that you finally married Emma. But I am, so I’m just going to go. Please, don’t try to stop me. We’re still friends, Will. I just need more time before I’m ready to accept it.”

Holly turned up the corner of her mouth in an attempt at a smile as she grabbed the box of her stuff and walked out the door. Will sighed as he sat on the edge of his desk, his arms crossed.

“Miss Holiday--” Jaxon began as he walked into the choir room, but stopped short upon seeing Will. “Oh, Mr. Schue! You’re back?”

“Yeah, I couldn’t miss you guys perform. That is, if you get to perform.”

“We convinced Declan to join New Directions. Now, we have thirteen members.”

“What about a set-list?” Will asked.

“Bella and I worked really hard and we decided on a Diva’s medley, paying tribute to Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and Mary J. Blige.”

“Wow, Jaxon. I’m impressed. You and Bella really worked things out. I’m so proud of you.”

Jaxon smiled. “So are you gonna get on that bus and go with us to Regionals over at Carmel High?”

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

____________________________________________________________

Bella looked around Carmel high, amazed. She had never seen such a grandiose school building. It seemed so extravagant and self-important.

“Good luck out there, tonight,” Miles said as he walked up beside Bella.

“I wish you could be out there with me,” Bella said.

“I really screwed up, Bella. I have to own up to my actions.”

“I’ll be thinking of you the whole time.”

Miles smiled. “I know. And I’ll be there in the audience.”

Miles grabbed Bella and pulled her in close. He smiled as the scent of Body Fantasies Vampire filled his nose. He lifted her head up and placed a kiss on her forehead.

“You got this. You’re gonna win, tonight,” Miles said.

“I think Jaxon is out for blood as far as Archie is concerned.”

“As he should be. The thing about Jaxon is, when he’s set on something, he rises to the occasion. You and Jaxon are a winning combination. New Directions has it in the bag. There is no way you guys can lose.”

Bella smiled. “I love you so much, Miles Larson.”

____________________________________________________________

Will knocked on the doorframe of New Direction’s green room.

“You guys ready to get out there and do your thing?” He asked.

“Of course, Mr. Schue,” India said. “We’re feeling more confident than ever.”

“There a few people here who want to wish you guys good luck.”

Will retreated from the door frame, allowing Brittany, Kurt, Blaine, Rachel, Santana, Emma, Coach Beiste, and Sue to enter.

“We wanted to say break a hip,” Brittany said.

“What she means is break a leg,” Santana reiterated.

“You guys are going to do great,” Kurt said. “You’ve all worked so hard. I’ve never been so proud of you guys.”

“My choreography is going to kill the competition,” Brittany said.

“Just remember what I told you guys about charm way back in the Battle of the Sexes,” Blaine said.

“I know I’m hard on you guys,” Sue said. “But I have three of my star Cheerios out there tonight and I couldn’t be more proud of them. Or the rest of you, for that matter.”

“Make me proud, fellas,” Beiste said with a smile.

“I am such a proud mother to you all,” Emma said with a tear in her eye.

Jaxon tightly gripped James’ hand as she lifted it to his mouth and planted a kiss. James smiled.

“We’re a family,” Jaxon said. “Dysfunctional at times, but still. Remember, if anyone struggles out there tonight, we have to be a family and help build them back up.”

Declan smiled.

“The Oratones are performing first,” Kurt said. “Then it’s Vocal Adrenaline, and finally you guys.”

“In fact,” Blaine said, looking at his watch, “It’s time for the Oratones to hit the stage.”

“I think it would be the right thing to do to go watch them and cheer them on,” Emma said.

____________________________________________________________

New Directions filed into their seats just as the curtain went up on The Oratones. All the girls were dressed like Ginger Spice, Scary Spice, Baby Spice, or Posh Spice. All the boys were dressed like Sporty Spice.

“The race is on to get out of the bottom,” Ellie Hermaine, female lead of the Oratones sang as she stepped forward. “The top is high so your roots are forgotten.”

“Giving is good as long as you're getting,” Burnie McCalvin, the male, lead sang as he stepped forward and playfully shoved Ellie aside. “What's driving you it's ambition and betting.”

“I said, who do you think you are?”' Ellie sang.

“Do you think you are?” Burnie sang.

“I said, who? Some kind of superstar?”

“You have got to--”

“Swing it, shake it, move it, make it,” the Oratones sang. “Who do you think you are? Trust it, use it, prove it, groove it. Show me how good you are. Swing it, shake it, move it, make it. Who do you think you are? Trust it, use it, prove it, groove it. Show me how good you are.”

“They are really good,” Emma whispered to Will.

“Damn the Spice Girls and their infectious brand of British pop,” Sue said.

“That’s Waverly, alright,” Will said.

“I said, who do you think you are?” Ellie sang.

“You're swelling out in the wrong direction,”Ellie sang. “You've got the bug, superstar you've been bitten.”

“Your trumpet's blowing for far too long,”Burnie sang. “Playing the snake of the ladder, but you're wrong.”

“I said, who do you think you are?”Ellie sang.

“Do you think you are?”Burnie sang.

“I said, who? Some kind of superstar?”

“You have got to--”

“Swing it, shake it, move it, make it,”the Oratones sang. “Who do you think you are? Trust it, use it, prove it, groove it. Show me how good you are. Swing it, shake it, move it, make it. Who do you think you are? Trust it, use it, prove it, groove it. Show me how good you are.”

“You have got to reach on up,”Ellie sang. “Never lose your soul.”

“You have got to reach on up,”Burnie sang. “Never lose control.”

“I said, who do you think you are?” Ellie sang.

“Do you think you are?” Burnie sang.

“I said, who? Some kind of superstar?”

“You have got to--”

“Swing it, shake it, move it, make it,”the Oratones sang.

“Swing it, shake it, move it, make it,”Burnie sang.

“Who do you think you are? Trust it, use it, prove it, groove it.”

“Trust it, use it, prove it, groove it.”

“Show me how good you are.”

“You are!”Ellie sang.

Will stood up and applauded. Soon, the entire audience was on their feet as well.

____________________________________________________________

Jaxon stood in the doorway of Vocal Adrenaline’s green room. He looked at Archie.

“We need to talk, Carmichael,” Jaxon said.

“What do you want, Jaxon?”

“What you did and what you said to James was really cruel. I just don’t get how anyone could be so heartless.”

“Obviously, you don’t know me, Pierce.”

Jaxon narrowed his eyes. “So you kissed James and you expected it to ruin everything, mess up our team dynamic, and cost us Regionals?”

“Seemed to work. You guys are two members less I noticed. And what, you got that Declan to fill in? This should be so easy.”

“We’re not going down without a fight, Archie. Those two members we lost for Regionals are not because of you.”

“You still don’t stand a chance. Never did.”

“Well, if you think you have what it takes, Archie, then prove it. Good luck. You’re on in five.”

____________________________________________________________

Will raised an eyebrow as Jaxon took his seat.

“Where were you?” Will asked.

“I was talking to Archie,” Jaxon answered.

“Jaxon, don’t sink to that level.”

“I wished him luck, Mr. Schue.”

Will didn’t seem to believe Jaxon, but he dropped the subject. The curtain raised and Vocal Adrenaline were in position.

“I’m hearing voices in the wind,” Monique sang. “I can hear them coming closer. Back in the cold December rain. Do you remember? We don’t look back in time.”

“We don’t look back in time,” Archie sang.

“I’m moving on, you're moving on,” Monique sang.

“You're moving on,” Archie sang.

“We don’t look back in time.”

“We don’t look back in time.”

“My life is burning up with color,”Monique sang. “I see rainbows in the distance but it’s always close behind me and it’s coming round again. I hear you turn the light on while we’re drowning in excitement. Everybody’s up and singing and I’m feeling you again.”

“We don’t look back in time,” Archie sang.

“I’m moving on, you're moving on,” Monique sang.

“You're moving on,” Archie sang.

“We don’t look back in time.”

“We don’t look back in time.”

“Won’t be looking back,” Aaron sang. “And I’ll be facing to the future and I know that you’ll be thinking of that cold December rain. You know we belonged together. Feeling like we used to but I know that I’ll be thinking of that cold December rain.”

“I’m hearing voices in the wind,” Archie sang. “It's coming closer. Back in the cold December rain. Do you remember?”

“My life is burning up with color,” Monique sang.

The lights lowered as a couple members of Vocal Adrenaline moved a stool center stage. The spotlight turned on and shone down on Archie, who was now sitting on the stool.

“Take a bow, the night is over,” Archie sang. “This masquerade is getting older. Lights are low, the curtains down. There's no one here. Say your lines but do you feel them? Do you mean what you say when there's no one around. Watching you, watching me, one lonely star.”

Archie looked at James as he continued to sing.

“I've always been in love with you. I guess you've always known it's true. You took my love for granted, why oh why? The show is over, say good-bye. Say good-bye, say good-bye. Make them laugh, it comes so easy. When you get to the part where you're breaking my heart.”

Archie looked over at Jaxon, glaring at him as he sang.

“Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown. Wish you well, I cannot stay. You deserve an award for the role that you played. No more masquerade, you're one lonely star.”

Jaxon rolled his eyes as he reached over and took James’ hand.

“All the world is a stage,” Archie sang. “And everyone has their part but how was I to know which way the story’d go? How was I to know you'd break, you'd break my heart? I've always been in love with you. I guess you've always known it's true. You took my love for granted, why oh why? The show is over, say good-bye. Say good-bye, say good-bye. Say good-bye.”

“Alright guys, you need to get backstage and get ready,” Will said.

“As much as I’d love to stay and watch Archie seem even more self-centered, we do need to get back stage,” Jaxon said sarcastically.

____________________________________________________________

Honey and Kevin stood behind the curtain, ready to take the stage. Honey, as well as the other girls, where dressed in short sky blue and purple prom-style dresses. Kevin and the other guys wore white button ups, black pants, and sky blue vests and ties.

Kevin smiled at Honey as the curtain started to rise.

“Oh, oh,” Kevin sang. “Honey got me hooked on you. C'mon, HB. C'mon, HB. I like that. Let’s go.” “Oh, honey you can have me when you want me,”Honey sang. “If you simply ask me to be there. And you're the only one who makes me come running. 'Cause what you got is far beyond compare.”

“And it's just like honey,” Kevin and Honey sang. “When you're love comes over me. Oh baby I've got a dependency. Always strung out for another taste of your honey.”

The rest of New Directions walked onstage and took their places near the back.

“It's like honey when it washes over me,”New Directions sang with Honey and Kevin. “You know sugar never ever was so sweet. And I'm dying for ya, crying for ya, I adore ya. One hit of your love addicted me, now I'm strung out on you darling. Don't you see? Every night and day, I can hardly wait for another taste of honey.”

“Honey, I can't describe how good it feels inside,”Honey and Kevin sang. “Honey I can't describe how good it feels inside.” “I can't be elusive with you, honey,”Honey sang. “’Cause it's blatant that I'm feeling you and it's too hard for me to leave abruptly. 'Cause you're the only thing I wanna do.”

“And it's just like honey,”Kevin and Honey sang. “When you're love comes over me. Oh baby I've got a dependency. Always strung out for another taste of your honey.”

“It's like honey when it washes over me,”New Directions sang. “You know sugar never ever was so sweet. And I'm dying for ya, crying for ya, I adore ya. One hit of your love addicted me, now I'm strung out on you darling. Don't you see? Every night and day, I can hardly wait for another taste of honey.”

“Harlem world we won't stop,” Kevin sang. “For Mariah, you're on fire. Harlem world we won't stop. So Mariah, take us higher. Harlem world we won't stop. For Mariah, you're on fire. Harlem world we won't stop. So Mariah, take us higher. Breakdown.”

“Whoa, whoa, every little thing you do,” Honey sang.

“Now, what we gonna do right here,” Kevin sang. “Is we gonna smooth it out. C'mon.”

“Oh, oh, honey got me hooked on you,” Honey sang.

“HB and she won't stop,” Kevin sang.

Declan looked worried as the song came to an end and it was time to begin the big numbers. Jaxon reached over and patted him on the back.

“You can do it, Declan,” Jaxon said.

The next song began and New Directions began to dance around. Declan struggled, but he managed to remember and nail the choreography.

“There are times when I look above and beyond,” Bella sang. “There are times when I feel your love around me baby. I'll never forget my baby.”

“There are times when I look above and beyond,” Hallie sang. “There are times when I feel your love around me baby. I'll never forget my baby.”

“When I feel that I don't belong,” James sang. “Draw my strength from the words when you said. Hey it's about you baby. Look deeper inside you, baby.”

“Dream about us together again,” Bella, Hallie, and James sang. “What I want, us together again, baby. I know we'll be together again cuz--”

“Everywhere I go,” New Directions sang. “Every smile I see, I know you are there smiling back at me. Dancing in moonlight, I know you are free. Cuz I can see your star shinin down on me. Together again, ooh. Good times we'll share again. Together again, ooh. Makes me wanna dance. Together again, ooh. Say it loud and proud. Together again, ooh. All my love's for you.”

“Always been a true angel to me,” Jaxon sang. “Now above, I can't wait for you to wrap your wings around me baby. Ooh, wrap them around me baby.”

“Sometimes hear you whispering,” Breezy sang. “No more pain. No worries will you ever see now baby. I'm so happy for my baby.”

“Dream about us together again,”Jaxon and Breezy sang. “What I want, us together again, baby. I know we'll be together again cuz--”

“Everywhere I go,”New Directions sang.

“There are times when I look above and beyond,”Honey sang. “There are times when I feel you smile upon me baby. I'll never forget my baby.”

“What I'd give just to hold you close,” Kevin sang. “As on earth, in heaven we will be together, baby. Together again, my baby.”

“Everywhere I go,”New Directions sang. “Every smile I see, I know you are there smiling back at me. Dancing in moonlight, I know you are free. Cuz I can see your star shinin down on me.

The audience applauded as New Directions moved into position for the next song. Jaxon looked out into the audience and saw Brittany give him a thumbs up. Will beamed, proudly.

Kevin, Declan, and Hallie began to beatbox the beat to ‘Family Affair’ by Mary J. Blige as the rest of the music began to play.

“Let's get it crunk, we gon' have fun,” New Directions sang. “Up on in this dancery. We got ya open, now ya floatin' so you gots to dance for me. Don't need no hateration, holleratin' in this dance for me. Let's get it percolatin', while you're waiting. So just dance for me.”

“Come on everybody get on up,” Evan sang. “Cause you know we gots to get it crunk. Mary J. is in the spot tonight. As I'mma make it feel alright. Come on, baby, just party with me. Let loose and set your body free. Leave your situations at the door. So when you step inside jump on the floor.”

“It's only gonna be about a matter of time,” India sang. “Before you get loose and start loose your mind. Cop you a drink, go head and rock your ice. Cause we celebrating no more drama in our life. With a great track pumpin', everybody's jumpin'. Goin ahead and twist your back and get your body bumpin'. I told you leave your situations at the door. Doesn't matter if you're white or black, let's get crunk cuz we are back. “Let's get it crunk, we gon' have fun. Up on in this dancer. We got ya open, now ya floatin' so you gots to dance for me. Don't need no hateration, holleratin' in this dance for me. Let's get it percolatin', while you're waiting. So just dance for me.”

New Directions stepped forward and took their bows, hugging one another as they did so. Will and Emma jumped to their feet, followed by the others. Then, the crowd broke out into a standing ovation.

____________________________________________________________

The Oratones, Vocal Adrenaline, and New Directions were all lined up onstage, patiently awaiting the results. Jaxon held hands with Bella and Jaxon as Declan gripped his shoulders tightly.

“We’ve got this,” Declan whispered.

Sister Mary Constance took the envelope and walked over to the microphone.

“We’ve had some extraordinary talent here tonight,” she said. “Any of these show choirs could have put my old show out of business.”

The audience chuckled as Sister Mary Constance opened the envelope.

“In third place, The Oratones!”

Burnie and Ellie walked forward and grabbed the trophy. They held it above their heads in celebration as the crowd cheered.

“One down, one to go,” Bella whispered.

“In second place, from Carmel High, Vocal Adrenaline!” Sister Mary Constance exclaimed. “Which means, our winners are the New Directions!”

Will threw his arms up in celebration and rushed forward to envelope his kids in celebratory hugs. Bella and Jaxon stepped forward to claim the giant Regionals trophy.

“We owe this all to you, Declan,” Bella said. “If it hadn’t been for you, we wouldn’t even be here right now.

Miles stood up from his seat and applauded, smiling at Bella. Next to him, Rachel gave Honey a thumbs up.

“Alright guys, there’s an after party for the winners down in the teacher’s lounge,” Will said.

____________________________________________________________

Archie and Aaron walked over to where New Directions had gathered after their victory. Archie narrowed his eyes menacingly as he crossed his arms.

“Well, congrats on your win, Jaxon and company,” Archie said. “Although I felt your performance was a little thrown together, completely predictable, and dare I say mainstream.”

“Ever heard of thinking outside the box?” Aaron added.

“What do you want, Carmichael?” Jaxon asked.

“Just to say that you may have won the battle between us, but you haven’t won the war. I just got word from the judges that one of the teams for Nationals has dropped out. They need a replacement and since they also loved our performance tonight, we have been invited to perform in their place.”

“What are you saying?” Bella asked.

“I’m saying that Vocal Adrenaline is also going to Nationals in Las Vegas. We’ll have a rematch and this time, Archie Carmichael will have his revenge.”

Everyone’s mouths fell open.

“This can’t be happening,” Jaxon said, stunned.
