Glee: The Next Generation Episode 21: "Sing-Off"Edit

So, here’s what you missed on Glee: The Next Generation:

Hallie and Bella kissed at prom, and ever since then, they can’t figure out just what they are or what they should do. One thing is for sure, they do love each other. India stole Miles away from Bella and is now dating him. This time it looks like India might actually be in love. She’s even softened up a little bit…until she jumped on Archie and started to beat him up. Jaxon is madly in love with James, who is now living with him due to being kicked out by his parents. James’ ex Archie surprised Jaxon by admitting that he was in love with him. Jaxon still hasn’t told everyone the whole truth. Evan has eyes for Lucas, but Breezy thinks he has eyes for Jaxon still. And not to mention, New Directions lost at Nationals. Bummer.

And that’s what you missed on Glee!

____________________________________________________________

Everything can change in one moment. One puny moment can turn your life upside down. That’s the one thing I’ve learned the past few weeks, Bella thought.

By all means, I should hate India. Okay, so maybe I do. Guilty as charged. But not just because of the Miles issue. This has been a long standing thing. Truth be told, Miles and I were on a road to relationship oblivion for a while now.

Miles never told me he loved me anymore. We could barely relate anymore. The last time we kissed…God, I had forgotten. Miles seemed to have trouble containing his urges. I’m a virgin. Yes, I’m still a virgin. Shocking I know. I don’t think Miles is anymore. He and India have been pretty touchy feely.

Ugh, it’s gross. Majorly disgusting to be honest. Just stop thinking about it, Bella. Put it out of your mind. Just close your locker and move along.

Bella closed her locker and started down the hall. She looked up and saw Hallie walking down the hall.

There she is, the most beautiful girl in the school. I had her and I screwed it up. I screwed up thing with Miles. Then there was the prom…the kiss under the canopy with Hallie. Somehow, I screwed that up, too. I can’t even think straight anymore around Hallie. I love her and want to be with her, but I understand her reasons why she doesn’t want to be with me right now.

If only things could be simpler.

____________________________________________________________

Isabella James, I love you, okay? I just freaking love you, Hallie thought. You’re at least 70 percent of everything that runs through my mind. I see your face in my toast. I watched Twilight last night and I swore that I saw your naked body sparkling in the sunlight.

Thank God I didn’t say that out loud. Oh my god, how weird would that be if I did? Could you imagine? Focus, Hallie. Just make it to Glee Club in one piece.

Glee Club…the sing-off competition! I don’t have anything prepared! Quick, Hallie, think of something to sing. Well, there is always the song that I always listen to that reminds me of Bella.

It’s too cliché. And besides, it’s a guy’s song. But then again, I’m a Lesbian. A Lesbian can pull off a guy’s song, right?

Hallie opened the door to the April Rhodes Civic Pavilion and walked inside. She found an empty seat near James, Evan, and Bella.

“Who’s up first?” Hallie asked them.

“Alright, guys, welcome to the Sing-Off,” Will said as he shut the door and walked down the aisle. “Jaxon is gonna be the first to go as he won rock, paper, scissors. Here are the rules. You’ll each perform one song as a solo. At the end of the week, when you’ve all had a chance to perform, we’ll vote. No voting for yourselves, guys. Let’s keep this friendly, alright? You guys ready?”

The auditorium was filled with the cheers of the other members in the Glee Club. Will took his seat as the curtain raised and Jaxon walked out onstage.

“Cold as ice and more bitter than a December,” Jaxon sang was he walked into the spotlight. “Winter night, that's how I treated you. And I know that I, I sometimes tend to lose my temper and I cross the line. Yeah, that's the truth.”

James smiled at Jaxon from the audience.

“I know it gets hard sometimes. But I could never leave your side, no matter what I say. ‘Cause if I wanted to go, I would’ve gone by now. But I really need you near me to keep my mind off the edge. If I wanted to leave, I would’ve left by now. But you're the only one that knows me better than I know myself.”

Jaxon took the microphone off the stand and started down the steps as the spotlight followed him.

“All along, I tried to pretend it didn't matter if I was alone. Deep down I know, if you were gone for even a day I wouldn't know which way to turn ‘cause I'm lost without you.”

Jaxon walked over to James and took his hand, holding it as he sang.

Jaxon kissed James’ hand before starting back down the aisle, headed back toward the stage.

“I get kind of dark, let it go too far. I can be obnoxious at times but try and see my heart. ‘Cause I need you now, so don't let me down. You are the only thing in this world I would die without.”

Jaxon put the microphone back into the microphone stand, grabbed it and titled it forward as he sang.

“‘Cause if I wanted to go, I would’ve gone by now. But I really need you near me to keep my mind off the edge. If I wanted to leave, I would’ve left by now. But you're the only one that knows me better than I know myself. Oh, ‘Cause if I wanted to go, I would’ve gone by now. But I really need you near me to keep my mind off the edge. If I wanted to leave, I would’ve left by now. But you're the only one that knows me better than I know myself.”

Jaxon smiled at James as the music came to an end. He took his bow, the rest of New Directions standing up and cheering for him.

“Thank you,” Jaxon said.

“That was fantastic, Jaxon,” Will said. “Alright, who wants to go next?”

Bella’s hand quickly shot up. Will nodded at her. Bella smiled as she got up and walked toward the stage.

“A lot has happened recently,” Bella said, as she grabbed the microphone stand. “I am in love with someone, and I know that in order to completely give myself to that person, I need to let go of the past. And, I know that I have a hard time doing that.”

Hallie watched Bella, a slight smile forming on her face.

“So,” Bella continued, “this song is just that. I can’t ignore my feelings about the whole thing, so this song is me expressing how I feel so I can get if off my chest and I can move on. That way, I can dedicate all of my heart to the girl I love.”

Everyone turned around and looked at Hallie, who smiled.

“Just like a go-go-go-ghost. Watch me go-go-go-ghost,” Bella sang. “Now I'm gone in your photograph. I bet you wish you could get me back. Now I'm stuck in your memory , a mistaken identity. What's her name? What's she like? Does she know that you'll never treat her right?”

Miles sunk down a little in his seat, feeling embarrassed. India took his hand as she glared at Bella.

“What's her name? What's she like? Do you leave her in the middle of the night? You act like you just saw a ghost. I watch you getting way too close. Now I know why you're never there. Now I know so it's my turn to disappear. You act like you just saw a ghost. I caught you, caught you. Now I know. Now I know why you're never there. Now it's my turn, watch me disappear. Just like a go-go-go-ghost. Watch me go-go-go-ghost.”

Bella took the microphone off the microphone stand and began to walk around the stage, fierce and determined, as she sang.

“The only gift that you ever gave was that you let me just get away. I hope I haunt you in every dream and you feel a little misery. What's her name? What's she like? I should warn her that you'll never treat her right. All your games, all your lies. I need to tell her, maybe I can change her mind.

Bella got down on the stage and began to found her fist to the rhythm as she sang.

“Just like a go-go-go-ghost. Watch me go-go-go-ghost. Now you see me, now you don't . You must've thought I'd never go. Thanks to you, I'm taking back my soul. Watch me go-go-go-ghost. Just like a go-go-go-ghost. Watch me go-go-go-ghost. Just like a go-go-go-ghost. Watch me go-go-go-ghost. Just like a go-go-go-ghost. Watch me go-go-go-ghost.”

There he goes, Evan thought as he watched Lucas leaving the auditorium. Lucas. Why I never really noticed him before prom, I will never know. I had been all about Jaxon. But, I know a lost cause when I see one. Jaxon was madly in love with James. Our one night of drunken passion would have to do. And I’m not gonna lie, it was amazing. And also, I can’t lie that James is a great guy. He and Jaxon really made a great couple.

I loved Breezy. I would be lying if I said I didn’t. But she’s so high maintenance. And while I thought it was cute at first, the novelty had worn off. Now, it’s just a burden. Breezy was a diva, and while I respected that fact, it was a hassle being romantically involved with one.

But now, I just feel like something different. I’ve never dated a guy before. Yes, I had a drunken liaison with Jaxon, but I wanted to experience the whole thing. Courtship, first date, holding hands, a romantic first kiss. Sue me, I’m a hopeless romantic. And yes, while I am bi, at the moment I find myself leaning more toward the gay side. Is that wrong?

Evan sighed. He slung his backpack over his shoulder and started down the hall.

____________________________________________________________

Evan Marx, the cutest boy I know, Lucas thought. Just look at how he flips his bangs. It really makes my heart skip a beat. I’ve been crushing on his for a while now. I think it was probably when he returned to McKinley following his suspension. We’ve always been good friends, but it wasn’t until then that I started to see him as something more.

But, he’d never feel that way about me. He likes Jaxon and who blames him? Jaxon is a major fox. Those blonde locks, those blue eyes, and that megawatt smile. And he looks damn good in a letterman jacket. So, yeah Evan should like him much more than me.

Lucas frowned as he watched Evan walk past.

I know what my song for the sing-off will be, now. At least I have that going for me.

____________________________________________________________

The next day, once again, everyone had gathered in the April Rhodes Civic Pavilion. Bella and Hallie were actually sitting beside each other for a change, Lucas couldn’t stop looking at Evan, and Breezy was sitting incredibly close to Evan, glaring at Jaxon.

Yep, pretty much a normal day, Will thought.

“So, who wants to go next?” Will asked.

India eagerly raised her hand.

“I’d like to go Mr. Schue. It’s been a while since I graced this Glee Club with my amazing voice, high society style, and ultra-hip dance moves.”

Will rolled his eyes. “The stage is yours, India.”

India walked to the stage, her Louboutins clicking which each step. She took the stage, mouthed something to the band and put on a headset microphone.

“Tonight,” India said, looking into the audience. “I’m going to be a little selfish.”

“Yeah, what else is new?” Kevin said to Rose, who laughed.

“Okay, the shoe is going on the other foot tonight,” India sang as she strutted across the stage. “La, la, la. I'm 'bout to turn you into my very own flight tonight. La, la, la. Okay, you think you got me where you want me. I'mma show you tonight. La, la, la. That I'm a girl and you're a boy and tonight you gonna be my, be my man. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Tonight I'm gonna be a little selfish, be a little selfish. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Tonight I'm gonna be a little selfish, be a little selfish. Boom, boom, baby, pick you up in my Mercedes. I'mma be a little selfish, be a little selfish. Boom, boom, baby, pick you up in my Mercedes. I'mma be a little selfish, be a little selfish.”

India leaned over, her hands on her hips and began to spin her hair. She raised up and danced across the stage as she sang.

“Just lay right there and don't you move. I'm in control tonight. La, la, la. Lock you up in my room, be my prisoner of love tonight. La, la, la. Shut up, sit down. Who's the boss now? I'm 'bout to show you now.

India walked over to the scaffolding that the set dressers use, which for some reason was sitting on the edge of the stage. She climbed up the steps and slid down the pole like a firefighter.

“Tonight I'm feeling sexual. Come on and play inside my love below.”

India held on to the pole and began to pole dance. Will’s mouth dropped open in shock.

“Oh my lord,” Will managed to stammer out.

“Strip down and give me my own private show. I'm gonna be a little selfish--”

“Okay, India,” Will said, jumping up from his seat. “That’s enough.”

“But Mr. Schue, I haven’t gotten to do my dance encore,” India said.

“If that’s just the beginning, then we definitely don’t need an encore,” Will said, shaking his head.

India huffed as she slumped off stage, her designer heels clicking in rhythm the entire way back.

“Who’s going next?” Will asked, looking around.

Lucas raised his hand. “I would like to go actually, Mr. Schue.”

Will smiled as he nodded. “Go on, Lucas.”

“I know that after everything that has happened to me as of late, I’ve been in a dark place and I’ve been singing all these moody songs,” Lucas said as he took the stage. “But, from now on, I’m gonna start looking on the brighter side of life.”

Will smiled at Lucas.

“I don't want another pretty face,” Lucas sang. “I don't want just anyone to hold. I don't want my love to go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul. I know that you are something special. To you, I'd be always faithful. I want to be what you always needed. Then I hope you'll see the heart in me. I don't want another pretty face. I don't want just anyone to hold. I don't want my love to go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul. You're the one I wanna chase, you're the one I wanna hold. I won’t let another minute go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul, yeah. You might need time to think it over, but I'm just fine moving forward. I'll ease your mind if you give me the chance. I will never make you cry c’mon let's try. I don't want another pretty face. I don't want just anyone to hold. I don't want my love to go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul. You're the one I wanna chase, you're the one I wanna hold. I won’t let another minute go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul.”

Lucas locked eyes at Evan as he sang.

“Am I crazy for wanting you? Maybe do you think you could want me too? I don't wanna waste your time. Do you see things the way I do?. I just wanna know that you feel it too. There is nothing left to hide.”

Lucas turned his gaze away from Evan as he continued to sing.

“I don't want another pretty face. I don't want just anyone to hold. I don't want my love to go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul. You're the one I wanna chase, you're the one I wanna hold. I won’t let another minute go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul. I want you and your soul. I don't want another pretty face. I don't want just anyone to hold. I don't want my love to go to waste. I want you and your beautiful soul. Ooh, beautiful soul, yeah. Ooh, yeah, your beautiful soul, yea.”

Lucas took a bow as everyone applauded for him. Will stood up, clapping.

____________________________________________________________

Evan started opened the door to the auditorium and walked out into the hall, headed toward his locker. He felt a hand grab his wrist and she stopped dead in his tracks. He turned around to see Breezy.

“Evan, we’re gonna talk,” Breezy said.

“Perhaps now is not the time,” Evan said.

“No, now is the perfect time,” Breezy said, dragging Evan off to the side of the hall.

“Breezy--” Evan began, but Breezy shushed him.

“What the hell is going on? I am your girlfriend and I demand to know.”

Evan sighed. “You want the truth?”

“That would be a fine damn place to start.”

“Breezy, you’re a diva and you’re incredibly high maintenance. Our last date, I showed up thirty minutes late and still had to wait another forty five minutes on you to be ready.”

“Evan, do you think I look this good naturally?”

“I don’t like you all dolled up like some red carpet celebrity. When you have no make-up on, your hair is pulled back, and you wear a T-shirt and jeans, that’s when I like you best.”

“Maybe that’s why you like Jaxon so much, huh?” Breezy asked, crossing her arms.

“Jaxon is in the past. Why can’t you let that go?”

“Because you still like him, Evan. That’s why. Your song at prom, it was to him. He was the one you were watching. I’m not stupid.”

“Evidentially, you are,” Evan said.

Breezy gasped. “What did you say.”

“It wasn’t Jaxon,” Evan said. “It was Lucas.”

“But how could you do that? I’m your girlfriend.”

“I didn’t do anything, really. Unless you can cheat in song form, that is.”

Breezy shook her head. “I’m really hurt, Evan.”

“Breezy, I’m sorry but I do care a lot about you. I’m just confused right now and I don’t have it in me to support a relationship that hinges on constant attention, flattery, and everything else you entail.”

“You think it’s easy for me to date a guy who is constantly looking me over for guys? That cheated on me with another guy? Huh? How easy do you think that is for me?”

Evan shook his head. “I’m just at a state in my life where I want to experience the bisexual side of myself. I want to experiment a little. Is that so wrong?”

“Evan,” Breezy began.

“It’s over,” they both said.

Evan nodded. “So at least, it’s mutual and amicable?”

“Yeah,” Breezy said, lowering her head.

“So, we can still be friends?” Evan asked.

Breezy smiled. “I’d like that.”

Kevin stood shirtless in his mirror. He took a good hard look at himself. Rose walked over and put her arms around Kevin.

“You’re so sexy, Kev,” Rose said.

“I don’t understand why I was hard on myself,” Kevin said. “There’s nothing wrong with me. It’s the rest of society.”

Rose smiled as she rested her head on Kevin’s shoulder.

Kevin opened his eyes, pushing the thought of the night before out of his mind as he grabbed the microphone.

“This song is for those people who ever tried to make me feel bad about myself,” Kevin said.

Rose smiled at Kevin from the audience. Kevin grabbed his guitar and walked back over to the microphone.

“Perfect by nature, icons of self-indulgence,” Kevin sang as he played his guitar. “Just what we all need, more lies about a world that never was and never will be. Have you no shame? Don't you see me? You know you've got everybody fooled. Look here he comes now, bow down and stare in wonder. Oh how we love you. No flaws when you're pretending but now I know he never was and never will be. You don't know how you've betrayed me and somehow you've got everybody fooled. Without the mask, where will you hide? Can't find yourself lost in your lie.”

Miles watched Kevin perform, remembering the argument in the locker room during football tryouts. He hung his head down.

“I know the truth no, I know who you are and I don't like you anymore. It never was and never will be. You don't know how you've betrayed me and somehow you've got everybody fooled. It never was and never will be. You're not real and you can't save me. Somehow now you're everybody's fool.”

Everyone applauded as Kevin walked back to the audience and took his seat beside John, who gave him a high five.

“Way to rock,” John said.

Rose raised her hand. “May I go next, Mr. Schue? I have a song that furthers the message Kevin was trying to get across.”

“Go right ahead,” Will said.

Rose smiled as she hurried to the stage. “The message that Kevin was implying is that a lot of people hide behind perfection to cover their flaws. Kevin had struggled in the past with his Body Dysmorphic Disorder. All my life, other girls teased me because I was pale, or because I have freckles, because I’m naturally very skinny, or because my breasts weren’t as big as theirs. Truth is, I have considered plastic surgery, but in all honesty, I’m scared of it. So what, I’m not perfect. That’s fine. I like myself. That’s all that matters. And no matter what, Kevin loves me just the way I am.”

“Atta girl, Rose,” Will said.

The music began to play and Rose began to dance with the music as she put on a headset microphone.

“Silicon, saline, poison inject me,” Rose sang. “Baby, I'm afraid of it. I’m afraid of it. Some girls won't dance to the beat of the track. She won't walk away, but she won't look back. She looks good but her boyfriend says she's a mess, she's a mess, she's a mess. Now the girl is stressed, she's a mess, she's a mess, she's a mess, she's a mess. Baby loves to dance in the dark. 'Cuz when he's looking, he falls apart. Baby loves to dance in the dark. Baby loves to dance in the dark. 'Cuz when he's looking, he falls apart. Baby loves to dance, loves to dance in the dark.”

Rose walked over to the piano and sat beside Brad. She began to play along with the song.

“Run, run, her kiss is a vampire grin. The moon lights her way while she's howling at him. She looks good but her boyfriend says she's a tramp, she's a tramp, she's a vamp but she still does her dance. She's a tramp, she's a vamp, but she still kills the dance. Baby loves to dance in the dark. 'Cuz when he's looking, he falls apart. Baby loves to dance, loves to dance in the dark.”

Rose got up and began to do ballet across the stage as she sang.

Baby loves to dance in the dark. 'Cuz when he's looking, he falls apart. Baby loves to dance in the dark. Marilyn, Judy, Sylvia, tell ‘em how you feel, girls. Work your blonde Jon Benét Ramsey. We'll haunt like Liberace. Find your freedom in the music. Find your Jesus, find your Kubrick. You will never fall apart Diana, you're still in our hearts. Never let you fall apart, together we'll dance in the dark. Baby loves to dance in the dark. 'Cuz when he's looking, he falls apart. Baby! Baby loves to dance in the dark. Baby loves to dance in the dark. 'Cuz when he's looking, he falls apart. Baby loves to dance, loves to dance in the dark.”

“I’m not sure exactly how that fits in with the theme other than the beginning,” Will said. “It was a great performance, but it’s such a dark and heavy song. It’s an ode to beautiful woman who were murdered or committed suicide at young ages.”

Rose’s eyes went wide. “Wow. I really don’t understand Gaga, afterall.”

“Good performance, though,” Will said. “Give her a round of applause.”

Rose and Honey walked together from the auditorium.

“Can I ask you something?” Rose asked.

“Sure,” Honey said.

“I finally made the decision to get intimate with Kevin last night,” Rose said.

“You did? Wow. Me and Declan did at Jaxon’s cousin’s New Year’s Eve party,” Honey said. “I know my sister told me to wait, but I am really in love with Declan and isn’t that what it’s about?”

“Well, I said we made the decision. I just couldn’t go through with it,” Rose replied.

“Oh,” Honey said, feeling embarrassed.

“Couldn’t go through with what?” Nicole asked as she and John joined them.

“Kevin and I were gonna get intimate last night and we both backed out. We got scared.”

“Sex can be a scary thing,” John said. “I lost my virginity at summer camp. Kinda wish I waited.”

“There is no need to rush it,” Nicole said. “Dillon and I have made a decision to wait. He even bought us matching purity rings.”

“So, by waiting, I’m not like some big dork who’s way behind?” Rose asked.

“To be honest, only about half of the Glee Club has gone all the way,” Nicole said. “Jaxon, Evan, and James we know of. Hallie, of course, but that was kind of a gray area. It’s suspected Miles and India have. Honey, Declan, and John.”

“True,” Rose said. “I just don’t wanna feel left out.”

“Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing,” Honey said. “Do what feels right for you.”

“Wait a minute, how does Nicole know about you and Declan?” Rose asked.

“I told her and I suspect Delcan told Jaxon,’ Honey replied.

“But I’m supposed to be one of your best friends. How come you didn’t tell me?”

“I just did,” Honey said. “I didn’t know there was a time limit on how soon you had to tell your friends something.”

____________________________________________________________

As the last person to take the stage, I feel a lot of pressure to live up to all the performances before me, Hallie thought. But the most important thing to me is to put my feelings into song. It’s not about if I win the competition. There is only one thing I wanted to win. Bella’s heart.

Yes, I know that she wants me, but I have to know that Miles is out of her heart so that it belongs solely to me. Is that selfish? I don’t know. I just love her so much.

Hallie dismissed her insecurities and stepped toward the microphone.

“Beauty queen of only sixteen, she had some trouble with herself,” Bella sang. “I was always there to help her, she always belonged to someone else. I drove for miles and miles and wound up at your door. I've had you so many times but somehow, I want more. I don't mind spending everyday out on your corner in the pouring rain. Look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile. And she will be loved, she will be loved.”

Hallie looked out into the audience at Bella, and it was if no one else existed. As she saw was her, in this moment.

“Tap on my window knock on my door, I want to make you feel beautiful. I know I tend to get so insecure, it doesn't matter anymore. It's not always rainbows and butterflies, it's compromise that moves us along, yeah. My heart is full and my door's always open, you can come anytime you want. I don't mind spending everyday out on your corner in the pouring rain. Look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile. And she will be loved, she will be loved. And she will be loved. And she will be loved. And she will be loved.”

Bella smiled at Hallie as she watched her onstage, emotionally bare and pouring her heart out.

“I know where you hide alone in your car. Know all of the things that make you who you are. I know that goodbye means nothing at all. Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls, yeah. Tap on my window knock on my door, I want to make you feel beautiful. I don't mind spending everyday out on your corner in the pouring rain. Look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile. And she will be loved, she will be loved. And she will be loved. And she will be loved. And she will be loved. Please don't try so hard to say goodbye. Please don't try so hard to say goodbye, yeah. I don't mind spending everyday out on your corner in the pouring rain. Try so hard to say goodbye.”

Hallie stepped back from the microphone as the music faded to the end. The other members of Glee Club, jumped up and began to applaud for her. Hallie looked into the audience and saw Bella. She smiled warmly back at Bella.

“Thank you guys,” Hallie said.

Bella jumped up and ran up on the stage, scooping Hallie into her arms and kissing her. Hallie didn’t resist this time, giving in to Bella.

“I love you,” Bella said as she broke the kiss.

“I love you too,” Hallie said with a smile.

____________________________________________________________

The next day, Hallie and Bella held hands as they walked into the choir room. Jaxon looked up at the two of them and smiled.

“You two are absolutely perfect together,” Jaxon said.

“Alright class, time to take a vote on who should win the Sing-Off,” Will said walking in with a stack of ballots. “Remember, you can’t vote for yourself. Keep the tradition of good sportsmanship alive.”

“I’m going to vote for India,” Miles said. “That pole dance was hot.”

Will rolled his eyes. “Let’s not discuss our votes aloud. It kind of ruins the purpose of a secret ballot.”

“That pole dance was sexist and demeaning,” Nicole said. “It set women’s rights back fifty years. Not to mention, it was gross.”

“I worked that hooker pole, well like a hooker pole,” India said.

“Enough,” Will said, as he began to pass out the ballots. “After you vote, drop it into the hat on top of the piano.”

“When I stick my hand in, I’m not gonna pull out a rabbit, am I?” Kevin asked.

Will rolled his eyes again. “Not unless you’re a magician, Kevin.”

“Good. I had a bad experience with a rabbit as a child,” Kevin explained.

One by one, New Directions voted, dropping their names into the hat. When it was done, Will walked over and picked up the hat. He took out the ballots, one by one, and began to count them.

“Well, looks like we have a winner,” Will said with a smile.
