Glee: The Next Generation: The Power of LoveEdit

So here’s what you missed on Glee: The Next Generation:

James and Jaxon are deeply in love, but James’ ex-boyfriend, Archie is trying hard to steal him. Over Christmas break, Jaxon took the next step and invited James to meet his parents and gave him a promise ring. Evan used to date India, but they broke up. Now he’s finally dating Breezy, but Breezy is afraid of getting hurt. Honey is dating Declan, Jaxon’s adopted brother and best friend. Will and Emma are engaged and Kurt promised to plan the wedding. It seems like everyone is in love.

And that’s what you missed on Glee!

Emma sat on her sofa, unblinking and unspeaking as James sat there.

“James, if you aren’t ready to talk, you don’t have to talk,” Emma said.

“No, I want to talk to you before you leave on your honeymoon,” James replied. “Thanks so much for talking to me at your house.”

“Is there anything I could do to make you feel more comfortable?”

James shook his head. “Jaxon took a big step and invited me to meet his parents on Christmas Eve. Then, he gave me a promise ring. Jaxon is the one making all the big steps and I feel like it’s my turn to take a big step.”

“What big step did you have in mind, James?”

James didn’t answer. Emma knew exactly what he had in mind just by his silence.

“That’s a pretty big step, James. You have to be one hundred percent positive you want to take it. It’s not something you can undo and changes a lot of things.”

“I know that. But I feel like it’s my time to finally take that step,” James replied.

“Okay, James. That’s your decision. All I can ask is that you are very careful and make sure you use protection.”

“But that’s not my main concern,” James said.

“Oh,” Emma said, alarmed. “Well, it’s not the size that matters, James. You’re still young and have plenty of growing left--”

“No. That’s not my problem,” James said. “I um, don’t know to put this but it’s something that I’ve been teased about quite a bit.”

“You can tell me anything, James.”

“I’m not Jewish,” James said.

“Well, James, I don’t see what religion has to do—”

“No, it’s not like that. I’m not Jewish,” James said with emphasis.

Emma thought for a moment before realizing what he meant. “Oh, okay. Well, that’s more normal than you think. I’m sure it won’t be a deal breaker, especially with two people who love each other. A lot of people aren’t…Jewish.”

“Thanks, Ms. Pillsbury. Um, do you have a pamphlet about it?”

Emma smiled as she got up and walked over to her briefcase, opened it, and pulled out a pamphlet. “I have a pamphlet for just about everything.”

James took the pamphlet and stuck it in the inside his jacket pocket.

“Bye,” James said. “I should be getting home.

As James walked out the door, he passed Will, who patted him on the back and walked into the living room.

“Are you ready for rehearsals?” Will asked.

Emma nodded. “I am.”

“Good. Everything’s ready. I managed to get in touch with Holly Holiday and she’s going to sub for me until we get back from our honeymoon.”

“That’s great,” Emma said, hugging Will.

“I can’t believe that later today I will Mrs. Emma Schuester.”

The church was packed as Mercedes and Sam walked toward their seat. They found an empty spot beside Rachel and Finn. Kurt and Blaine sat on the other side of Finn. Artie was in the aisle beside them. Brittany and Santana sat in front of them.

“This place looks beautiful. It’s a shame that the others couldn’t make it,” Mercedes said.

From behind her, Coach Beiste blew her nose. Sue readied another tissue.

“I can’t believe it took them this long to get married,” Rachel said.

“Shh,” Emma’s about to walk down the aisle,” Sam said.

“Isn’t she lovely?” Rachel whispered to Mercedes as Emma marched down the aisle, escorted by Rusty Pillsbury.

“That gown is gorgeous,” Mercedes whispered back. “It’s very Audrey Hepburn.”

After the ceremony, at the reception, Emma and Will sat aside as New Directions took the stage to perform the song they had chosen as their wedding song.

“The whispers in the morning,” Bella sang. “Of lovers sleeping tight are rolling like thunder now as I look in your eyes.”

“Cause I'm your lady,” the girls sang. “And you are my man. Whenever you reach for me, I'll do all that I can.”

“Even though there may be times,” Miles sang. “It seems I'm far away. Never wonder where I am, cause I am always by your side.”

“Cause I'm your lady,” the girls sang. “And you are my man. Whenever you reach for me, I'll do all that I can.”

“We're heading for something,”the boys sang. “Somewhere I've never been. Sometimes I am frightened but I'm ready to learn of the power of love.”

“The sound of your heart beating,” Jaxon and James sang. “Made it clear. Suddenly the feeling that I can't go on is light years away.”

“Cause I'm your lady,”the girls sang. “And you are my man. Whenever you reach for me, I'll do all that I can."

“We're heading for something,” the boys sang. “Somewhere I've never been. Sometimes I am frightened but I'm ready to learn of the power of love.”

Will smiled at Emma. He took her hand and held it tightly.

Jaxon, James, Evan, and Breezy made their way over to join the rest of the Glee Club.

“I’m telling you, she’s totally having a party tonight,” Declan said.

“Yeah, but there is gonna be alcohol,” Jaxon said.

“So?” John said. “That’s the kind of party I’m talking about.”

You ever wonder if people know your secret? Truth is, I, John Wiener, had a very deep, dark secret. I’ve never told anyone. And I don’t plan on it anytime soon. I’m not even gonna tell you. But as I sat here, I was paranoid. It’s been eating me up for a while now. I feel so helpless sometimes. It’s not like anyone cares, most likely anyway.

“So, that settles it,” Honey said. “We’re going.”

“I think Rose and I will sit this one out,” Nicole said. “Parties aren’t our scene.”

“More like spelling bees are your scene,” India said as she and Hallie joined the group.

Everyone looked at India and Hallie, confused.

“You two…are friends?” Bella asked.

“Yes,” Hallie said.

“When did this happen?” Miles asked.

“Christmas break,” India said. “I bought Eva and Ethan the cutest little Gucci sleepers. They are so adorable in them.”

“Okay,” Bella said. “We have entered the Twilight Zone.”

Santana and Brittany’s party was in full swing when John, Honey, and Declan arrived. Evan opened the door and ushered them inside. Honey looked around for someone she knew. Giving up, she stuck closer to John, Declan, and Evan.

They walked inside, the music getting louder.

“I love this song!” Honey said as she ripped her arm away from Declan and began to dance. John smiled.

“I admit, even I like this song," John said.

“Then sing it with us,” Breezy said as she appeared at Evan’s side.

“Start the party up,” Evan sang. “Hit the groove. Celebrate is what we're here to do.”

“Crank the music,” Honey sang. “Now's the time.”

“All of us are here tonight,”' all four sang.

“Something new, we're movin on,” John sang. “We've been thinking 'bout it all year long.”

“Got the right moves, Cheetah Girls,” Breezy sang. “Here we go, gonna rock the world.”

“Party 'cause you know the future's all yours,” they all sang. “Dance till your feet don't touch the floor. Celebrate the day you've waited for. Party like you're ready for so much more. Do it like you know it's never been done. Go a little crazy, have too much fun. Today's the day, come on everyone. The party's just begun.”

“I know you feelin' this,” Breezy sang. “Put your hands up if you feelin' this.”

“I'm feelin it girl,” Evan sang.

“I know you feelin' this,” Breezy sang.

“Everybody get up here we go,” John sang.

“Everybody now make some noise,” Evan sang. “All the girls and all the boys.”

“Don't you know we got it going on,” Honey sang. “All together we belong.”

“Fun to be young,” John sang. “That’s the truth. Looking good with a new attitude.”

“Turn the party out,” Breezy sang. “Time to shine. Cheetah style we're doing it right.”

The party's just begun. Party 'cause you know the future's all yours. Dance till your feet don't touch the floor. Celebrate the day you've waited for. Party like you're ready for so much more. Do it like you know it's never been done. Go a little crazy, have too much fun. Today's the day, come on everyone. The party's just begun.”

Archie and Aaron made their way through the crowd.

“Stay close to me,” Archie said.

“I love party crashing,” Aaron said.

“I’m a professional.”

“Who do you think you are?” Aaron sang. “A super s-t-a-r? Who do you think you are? You can kiss my oh my gah!”

“All eyes on you tonight,” Archie sang. “So let’s toast to you, you got so much to prove. And you say, everyone’s got a price. That’s how you get your way if not there’s hell to pay. You’re gonna huff and puff and blow the whole house down. Don’t they know you’re the king of the castle? The nerve of some people to think we’re all equal. 911 it’s me to the rescue. If I don’t speak who’s gonna tell you? Oh yea, I gotta let you know.”

“I’m here to crash your party,” Archie and Aaron sang. “You think you’re the star of the show but I’m about to let you know. I’m here to crash your party. The bigger you are the harder you fall, oh you had it all. Before I crashed your party.”

“Who do you think you are?” Aaron sang. “A super s-t-a-r? Who do you think you are? You can kiss my-”

“Oh my God,” James said. “Archie, what are you doing here?”

Jaxon threw back another Jell-O shot. Evan looked around for Breezy but she was nowhere to be seen. The music was so loud, he could barely hear himself think.

“Let’s go someplace quieter,” Evan said to Jaxon.

Jaxon nodded. “Let’s go.”

Evan took Jaxon’s hand and led Jaxon up to Jaxon’s room.

“I’ve had like five jello shots,” Jaxon said with a giggle.

“It’s been like six or seven for me,” Evan said.

Jaxon brushed aside an empty bottle as he sat down on his bed. Evan didn’t know what had come over him as he made his move. He straddled Jaxon and leaned in for a kiss. Jaxon was taken aback by Evan’s kiss and tried to pull away. Upon seeing the sting of rejection in Evan’s eyes, he began to kiss him back.

_________________________________________________________________

Everyone had gathered around to watch the ball drop as the sound of the countdown filled the room. Archie looked at James and smiled.

“You’re drunk,” Archie said.

“I’ve had a few. No biggie,” James insisted.

“Five, four, three,” the party goers counted.

Archie took Jame’s hand and started to lean in for a kiss. James reached up and put his hand on the back of Archie’s head.

“Two, one, zero!”

James kissed Archie as the party erupted with the sound of cheers and noisemakers.

_________________________________________________________________

Evan took off his shirt and threw it on Jaxon’s floor as Jaxon ran his hand along Evan’s abs. Evan proceeded to lean forward and began to kiss Jaxon’s neck.

“What the hell are we doing?” Evan asked.

Jaxon shook his head. “I have no idea. I can’t think straight.”

“Me either,” Evan replied.

Evan planted another kiss on Jaxon’s lips. Jaxon’s head swirled as he tried to grasp and make sense of what was happening.

As “I Like It Like That” by Hot Chelle Rae blared from downstairs, the only thing that made sense to Jaxon was it didn’t take long before he and Evan were no longer virgins.

_________________________________________________________________

James pulled away from Archie. He covered his mouth in shock.

“I didn’t mean for that to happen,” James said.

Archie smiled. “I knew you’d come back to me.”

“That’s not what happened, Archie. It was a kiss and I’m really drunk right now.”

Archie started to move in for another kiss, but James pushed him away.

“Archie, stop.”

“Come on, James. Just another kiss. You already kissed me once so what’s another one?”

“A second mistake, that’s what. You should go, Archie. If Jaxon knew you were here, he’d flip out.”

“Flip out that I was here or that you kissed me?”

“Just leave.”

Archie nodded. “Okay. I’ll go. But I’m going to relish watching your relationship with Jaxon fall apart and knowing I had a hand in it. Then you’ll crawl back to me on your hands and knees.”

James hung his head. Archie looked at Aaron, who was getting cozy with a boy and girl on the sofa.

“Come on, Aaron. We’re leaving.”

“I was just getting heated up,” Aaron said as he got up and walked over to Archie’s side.

“Cool down, then. We’re out.”

Jaxon sat up and looked beside him. Evan lay there, naked and asleep. Jaxon sighed as he pulled the sheets up over Evan and grabbed his own underwear off the floor and put them on. As soon as he stood up, Declan and Honey opened the door. Honey let out a squeal of surprise and covered her eyes.

“Oh my god, Jaxon!” She said. “I didn’t see anything. I swear.”

“Please tell me that’s James,” Declan said.

Jaxon sighed. “No. It’s Evan.”

“Jaxon!” Honey said. “How could you?”

“I’m drunk, okay. It just kind of happened.”

“And what happens when James finds out?” Declan asked.

“What happens when I find out what?” James asked as he appeared in the doorway. He looked first at Jaxon, who was wearing only his underwear, then at Evan, asleep on the bed.

“Jaxon, you…and Evan?” James asked, hurt and shocked.

“I didn’t mean to, James.”

“Too late. It’s over,” James said as he turned around and ran down the stairs.

Jaxon pushed past Declan and headed after James. But it was too late. He was already gone. Honey walked up beside Jaxon as he stood at the top of the stairs, looking straight ahead.

_________________________________________________________________

Jaxon had sent Evan on his way, gotten dressed, and now he was all alone in his empty house. He walked over to his stereo and turned it on.

“Just on kiss on my lips was all it took to seal my future,” Jaxon sang as the music began to play. “Just one look from your eyes was like a certain kind of torture. Once upon a time there was a boy and there was a boy. Just one touch from your hands was all it took to make me falter. Forbidden love. Always supposed to be together. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. We seal our destiny forever. Forbidden love. Forbidden love.”

Jaxon focused solely on the song and the music, pushing everything else out of his mind. He moved to the rhythm of the song, giving in to the beat.

“Just one smile on your face was all it took to change my fortune. Just one word from your mouth was all I needed to be certain. Once upon a time there was a boy and there was a boy. Hearts that intertwine. They lived in a different kind of world. Forbidden love. Always supposed to be together. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. We seal our destiny forever. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. Just one kiss. Just one touch. Just one look. Forbidden love. Always supposed to be together. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. We seal our destiny forever. Forbidden. Forbidden love. Always supposed to be together. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. We seal our destiny forever. Forbidden love. Forbidden love. Just one kiss. Just one touch. Just one look. Just one love.”

As the song ended, Jaxon sat down on his bed and buried his head in his hands and began to cry.

Jaxon and James had broken up. Jaxon hadn’t spoken to James since the incident. He knew he couldn’t justify what he had done, especially since Archie had down the same thing and it nearly destroyed James.

Now, it was the first day of school since Christmas break, and James wouldn’t even look Jaxon in the eye. Which, that was much better than what had happened to Evan.

Evan grabbed his stinging cheek as Breezy lowered her hand. The sound of the slap had drawn everyone’s attention and they all stared at Evan and Breezy.

“You cheated on me…with Jaxon? How could you? I trusted you. After I told you how I was afraid of being hurt?”

“I know,” Evan said. “It was a bad thing to do.”

“Oh you got that damn right, Evan Marx! And who do I have to find out from? James! Not you! Why didn’t you come to me and admit what you did?”

“I knew you’d be mad and slap me!”

“Well, you deserve it!”

“Holla!” Holly said as she walked into the choir room.

Evan and Breezy begrudgingly took their seat.

“So, how did you guys like Christmas break?” Holly asked.

“Christmas was good, but New Year’s sucked,” James said. Jaxon frowned.

“Did you guys go to a party?” Holly asked with a smile.

The kids nodded.

“I used to party a lot when I was your age,” Holly said. “Until I realized that at my age, drinking was the last thing I needed to be doing. Being young, I was already stupid without alcohol coursing through my veins, convincing me to be even more stupid. So, how about we sing a song about partying a little too hard? Maybe break the ice a little.”

The kids all agreed. Holly smiled.

“You like Britney Spears?”

The choir room erupted with cheers. Holly mouthed something to Brad and the band, who began to play.

“Come on up, guys,” Holly said. “I’ll start you off. Alright?

The Glee Club nodded as Holly took the center of the floor.

“I was a little late last night,” she said. “Got a little messy. Can’t be like that anymore. Oh.”

“I was shaking my ass in the streets till morning,” New Directions sang. “Just walked in and it’s early mornin’. Bump, bump till the break of dawn and it don’t stop till the early mornin’. Passed out on the couch, I’m yawning and just walked in, it’s early mornin’.”

“Wanna talk to a guy with dark hair,” Lucas sang. “Walked up and Tony grabbed him. But I liked him, told him come here. Kinda cool, baby we can make plans.”

“Where you live?” Rose sang. “Your momma live there? Or we can hook up at the hotel. He was down, so I told him ‘let’s go.’ What happened next, guess, but you don’t wanna know.”

“I went out with my girl Jen,” John sang. “And we called up Gabe and his friends. They was talking ‘bout hitting up a show. So I said ‘what the hell, let’s go.”

“Got up on the dance floor,” Nicole sang. “Hooked up with a guy named Joe. When the music was fast, danced slow. What happened next, guess, but you don’t wanna know.”

“Call all your boys,” the girls sang. “Call all your girls. Call all your friends. Let’s do it again, let’s do it again.”

“Shoo wop, shoo wop,” the boys sang. “Yes. Can’t, can’t, can’t keep doing this. Shoo wop, shoo wop. Yes. Can’t, can’t, can’t keep doing this.”

“I light your fire,” Kevin sang. “Your one desire. Pull on me, baby, and I’ll take you higher. You should try her, so come over her and let’s go.”

“Call all your boys,” the girls sang. “Call all your girls. Call all your friends. Let’s do it again, let’s do it again.”

When the song ended, Holly was excited. “Alright, guys! Let’s go get some tacos!”

“Tacos?” Kevin asked, excitedly.

Jaxon looked at James, who had seemingly started to smile for a minute, but it ended quickly.

Breezy saw James sitting in the courtyard by himself. She decided to walk over and talk to him.

“James? May I?” She asked.

James nodded.

“What happened to us sucked.”

“But I’m guilty too, Breezy,” James said. “I haven’t told Jaxon yet, but I kissed Archie as soon as the ball dropped. So we cheated at the same time. I’m just as guilty.”

“But you didn’t have sex with Archie. Jaxon had sex with Evan.”

“It’s different degrees, but it’s still cheating, Breezy. I can’t act like I didn’t do anything.”

Breezy thought about Evan.

“Wha-wha-what did you say?” Breezy sang. “Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did. Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that it’s all for the best? Well, of course it is.”

“I was so wrong for so long,” James sang as he thought about Jaxon. “Only trying to please myself. Boy, I was caught up in his lust, when I don’t really want no one else. So, no. I know I should’ve treated you better, but me and you were meant to last forever. So let me in, give me another chance to really be your man. Cause when the roof caved in and the truth came out, I just didn’t know what to do. But when I become a star, we’ll be living so large, I’ll do anything for you. So tell me, boy.”

James closed his eyes. When he opened them, he and Breezy were in the reality that was the choir room.

“Mmm, whatcha say?” Breezy sang, looking directly at Evan. “Mmm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did. Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that it’s all for the best? Well, of course it is. Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did. Mmm, whatcha say? Mmm, that it’s all for the best? Well, of course it is.”

“Whatcha say, whatcha say,” James sang.

“Wha-wha-what did you say?” Breezy sang.

“How could I live with myself, knowing that I let our love go?" James sang. "And ooh, what I’d do with one chance. I just gotta let you know. I know what I did wasn’t clever, but me and you were meant to last forever. So let me in, give me another chance to really be your man. Cause when the roof caved in and the truth came out, I just didn’t know what to do. But when I become a star, we’ll be living so large, I’ll do anything for you. So tell me, boy.”

“Whatcha say, whatcha say,” James sang.

“Wha-wha-what did you say?” Breezy sang.

“Boy, tell me what to say I, I don’t want you to leave me, though you caught me cheating,” James sang. “Tell me tell me what to say I, I really need you in my life, cuz things ain’t right, boy. Tell me, tell me what to say I, I don’t want you to leave me, though you caught me cheating. Tell me tell me what to say I, I really need you in my life, cuz things ain’t right, boy.

“Hmm,” Holly said as she stood up. “I know when a song about cheating is a song about cheating and not just words. I’ve been there, done that.”

“I don’t wanna talk about it,” James said.

“Neither do I,” Evan seconded.

“I can’t right now,” Jaxon added.

“Well, when you have a problem and you don’t wanna talk about it, then there is only one thing to do,” Holly said. “Sing about it.”

____________________________________________________________

Holly and the rest of New Directions sat in the audience, awaiting the performance that was about to take place. Jaxon, James, and Evan stood on stage, blanketed in darkness.

The music began to play as a spotlight turned on, focused on Jaxon.

“Story of my life,” Jaxon sang. “Searching for the right, but it keeps avoiding me. Sorrow in my soul ‘cause it seems that wrong really loves my company. He’s more than a man, and this is more than love, the reason that the sky is blue. The clouds are rolling in because I’m gone again, and to him I just can’t be true. And I know that he knows I’m unfaithful and it kills him inside, to know that I am happy with some other guy. I can see him dying. I don’t wanna do this anymore. I don’t wanna be the reason why. Every time I walk out the door, I see him die a little more inside. I don’t wanna hurt him anymore. I don’t wanna take away his life. I don’t wanna be…a murderer.”

Jaxon’s spotlight shut off and Evan’s turned on, casting him in light.

“I feel it in the air,” Evan sang. “As I doing my hair, preparing for another date. A kiss upon my cheek, as she reluctantly asks if I’m gonna be out late. I say I won’t be long, just hanging with my boys, a lie I didn’t have to tell. Because we both know where I’m about to go, and we know it very well. Cuz I know that she knows I’m unfaithful and it kills her inside, to know that I am happy with some other guy. I can see her dying. I don’t wanna do this anymore. I don’t wanna be the reason why. Every time I walk out the door, I see her die a little more inside. I don’t wanna hurt her anymore. I don’t wanna take away her life. I don’t wanna be…a murderer.”

Evan’s spotlight turned off and James’ sprung to life.

“Our love,” James sang. “His trust. I might as well take a gun and put it to his head, get it over with. I don’t wanna do this anymore. Oh, anymore. I don’t wanna do this anymore. I don’t wanna be the reason why. Every time I walk out the door, I see him die a little more inside. I don’t wanna hurt him anymore. I don’t wanna take away his life. I don’t wanna be…a murderer. A murderer. No, no, no. Yeah.”

The lights came back on as the rest of New Directions, with the exception of Breezy, stood up and applauded. Breezy sat there, her arms crossed, showing no emotion.

Jaxon looked over at James, but James wouldn’t even look him in the eyes.
